<p>The Colorado High School Activities Association crowned two State Champions in 2024: (5A) Valor Christian 17-2 & (4A) Erie 15-3. Other noteworthy programs like Arapahoe (17-2), Cherry Creek (13-4), Legend (14-4), Colorado Academy (11-5), Regis Jesuit (11-7), & Northfield (15-4) entertained productive seasons that included deep runs in the playoffs. The CHSAA seeds 24 teams to make the playoffs in both the 5A & 4A brackets respectively where the top 8 seeds receive a 1st round bye.</p>

<p>4A: All of the top 8 seeds advanced to the CHSAA Quarterfinals of the tournament. The #7 seed Northfield upset #2 seed Cheyenne Mountain 10 to 8 in the Quarterfinals; then beat the #6 seed Air Academy in the Sem-Finals. Top seed Erie cruised their way into the Finals from the opposite side of the bracket where they eventually squared off against Northfield at Denver University. #1 seed Erie knocked off #7 seed Northfield 14 to 6 en route to claiming their first Colorado State Title! Erie has been pushing competition since the program's inception in 2019. They finished 2023 as the CHSAA 4A: Runner-Up after a heart-rending double overtime loss to Cheyenne Mountain. In 2025 we are scheduled to see Erie & Northfield bumped up in classification to CHSAA 5A - leaving the path to the Championship wide open in 4A.</p>

<p>5A: Most of the top seeds advanced through the CHSAA State Playoffs & into the quarterfinals, where things started to get more competitive. The #5 seed Legend beat #4 seed Colorado Academy 17 to 11 continuing their journey into the Semi-Finals. Regis Jesuit was a Cinderella story in 2024 having upset the #2 seed Cherry Creek in the elite 8 by a score of 5 to 3. The Final 4 of the tournament saw #1 seed Arapahoe beat the #5 seed Legend 9 to 8 in a highly contested battle. On the flip side of the bracket, #3 seed Valor Christian continued to cruise through Colorado beating the #7 seed Regis Jesuit 13 to 3 with total control of the outcome.</p>

<p>Denver University hosted the 5A State Title game where the third-seed Valor Christian won its first State Championship since 2017. The Eagles defeated the top-seed Arapahoe Warriors in a landslide victory 22 to 6. This is the largest margin of victory in Colorado State Championship game history! Additionally, Valor Christian also bested their previous record for most goals in a State Championship game, set when they won 20 to 12 against Dawson School in 2017. This year's State Championship victory marked Valor Christian's third overall State Title & first in 5A. The Eagles won back-to-back titles in 2016 and 2017 back when they were still classified in 4A. Arapahoe has won four boys' lacrosse titles, & were champions as recently as 2022. Either Valor Christian or Arapahoe has played in each of the last four 5A state championship games. Valor Christian's 2024 State Title team is considered one of, if not the best high school team to ever come out of Colorado! The Eagles finished undefeated in-state throughout their 2024 journey.</p>

<p>Historical Context: Kent Denver was the CHSAA's first State Championship Team in 1999. They collected five State Titles between 1999 & 2008. Denver East was the second team to win the CHSAA in 2000 with their lone championship. Cherry Creek was the third CHSAA champion & they recorded four unclassified titles (2002, 2005, 2006, 2010). The 4A & 5A classifications for CHSAA started in 2013. The only other Colorado programs to win unclassified CHSAA State Championships were Fort Collins (2007); Regis Jesuit (2011); Arapahoe (2009 & 2012). 4A has had seven different champions since 2013 including Wheat Ridge (2013); Ponderosa (2014); Aspen (2015); Valor Christian (2016 & 2017); Cheyenne Mountain (2018 & 2021-23); Golden (2019), Erie (2024). 5A has had four different champions since 2013 including Arapahoe (2013 & 2022); Regis Jesuit (2014, 2016, 2018); Cherry Creek (2015, 2017, 2019); Mountain Vista (2021 & 2023); Valor Christian (2024). <p>[player_tooltip player_id='14560' first='Ollie' last='Nolting'] earned CHSAA (5A) 1st Team All-State as well as US All-American twice in 2023 & 2024. He has been named the youngest All-American in Colorado State History! Ollie scored 48 points with 23 goals & 25 assists in 2024. He picked up 59 ground balls as a junior. Nolting had a breakout year in 2023 collecting 73 points as a sophomore & was the regular season assists leader in Colorado. He put up 24 goals & 49 assists in 2023. Ollie accounted for 29 points as a freshman with 16 goals & 13 assists in 2022. He is a theme midfielder who is building his unique way as a sleek dodger with good length. Nolting has developed instinctual vision as a player who has drawn the slide his entire life. If he gets his hands free inside of fifteen yards Ollie is going to bring the heat & put it in a good spot on the cage. A consensus 4-star prospect who could gain star power quickly in Baltimore, MD & ultimately follow his family's footsteps into the professional lacrosse world. <p class="text-gray-700">Gus Langty earned CHSAA (5A) 1st Team All-State the past two years & US Lacrosse All-American in 2024. He put up 93 points as a junior with 64 goals & 29 assists. Gus is a natural lefty with eruptive playmaking capabilities from all over the field. He has been a Team Captain for Legend since his sophomore year. Langtry posted 6.1 PPG with 26 goals & 17 assists (43 points through his first 7 games) in 2023. He is a creative player who is extremely accurate as a 52% shooter. Gus has been a standout since his freshman year where he totaled 50 points with 27 goals & 23 assists in 2022. He is arguably the chief returning player in Colorado state with the most significant productivity measured in point totals. Langty follows suit with a legacy in lacrosse as an absolute wizard with the wand. Verbally committed to Hofstra.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Flynn Leonard earned CHSAA (5A) 1st Team All-State & US Lacrosse All-American in 2024. He scored 78 points with 58 goals & 20 assists for the Coyotes during his junior season. Flynn totaled 50 points from the midfield in 2023 when he was selected for 1st Team All-Conference. He scored 36 goals & 14 assists during his sophomore season. Leonard ponied up his freshman year when he received 2nd Team All-Conference after scoring 30 points (18 goals & 12 assists) in 2022. Leonard is deemed a pure Lacrosse player who has stepped up at the proving grounds! He floats out of his dodge & is a deceptive scorer with a variety of shooting strokes. Flynn looks like one of the most dynamic players in the state who plays defense, can run the full field clear & can turn the corner from X to score with either hand. He is a sharp stick handler with all of the behind-the-back tricks & fundamental skills. Leonard is nearly a complete prospect who uses speed or hesitation moves with good vision to break down the defense. A consensus 3-star prospect. Verbally committed to Yale.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Harry Luong earned CHSAA (5A) Honorable Mention All-State & 1st Team All-Conference the past two seasons (2023 & 2024). He won 146 face-offs (79.8%), gathered 88 ground balls, & collected 12 points with 8 goals & 4 assists as a junior. He ignited a high-powered transition offense with an untouchable play style (make it take it). Harry's (individual) awards don't matter as much as being regarded as one of the most governing (F/O) players in Colorado history within the last 15 years or so. He is at the forefront of putting his teammate's success before his own which is something Valor Christian preaches towards building Championship teams at the end of the year. Luong helped lead the Eagles to a State Championship victory in 2024 while being regarded as one of the best face-off guys in the country. He has been an X-factor since freshman year tallying 131 draw controls at a 60.4% winning rate & picking up 64 groundballs. Harry scores timely goals & comes up with valuable draws in the clutch moments. He won 181 draws (67.3%) in 2023. He scooped up 106 ground balls while adding 10 points (8 goals & 2 assists) as a sophomore for a runner-up finish. Luong is a high-level player who has been incredible over the last 3 years. He has everything you want in stature, speed, & skill. Verbally committed to Harvard.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Colton Pawlak earned CHSAA (5A) 1st Team All-State in 2023 & 2024. He is one of the more dominant players in Colorado. Colton scored 47 goals & added 5 assists as a junior (52 points). He scored 56 goals, added 3 assists, scooped up 68 ground balls, & registered 19 takeaways as a Sophomore in 2023 (59 points). Pawlak was named CHSAA (5A) 2nd Team All-State as a freshman in 2022 with 36 goals & 2 assists (38 points). He is an absolute tank with a hammer shot over the top. Colton is used to drawing double or even triple-team attention with schematics designed to stop him every game. He has shown signs of passing becoming the best part of his game lately. Pawlak is considered an elite athlete & is someone who can penetrate the defense for a reverse jam bouncing it in on the crease. He will continue to be a horse in the midfield running with the Stars before he takes his talents to University. Verbally committed to Denver.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Parker Barhydt earned CHSAA (5A) Honorable Mention All-State in 2024 en route to being named a State Champion as a junior. He accounted for 24 ground balls, 12 takeaways & 1 goal in 15 games. Parker was picked for 2nd Team All-State & 1st Team All-Conference as a sophomore on a Runner-Up team. He contributed 14 ground balls, 14 takeaways & 1 assist through 14 games in 2023. Barhydt has been credited with 21 takeaways (second most on the team), 26 ground balls, 1 goal, & 2 assists in 17 games played as a freshman (2022). He will be a four-year starter for the Eagles & is described as the steady-eddy glue guy. When he is out the whole defense is noticeably off. Barhydt is humble & polite off of the field with a good personality but a menace during game time. He has a high lacrosse acumen & is assuredly the most accomplished defender decorated on the best team in the state. Parker could help his future program get back into the NCAA tournament. <p class="text-gray-700">Owen Corsi earned 1st Team All-Conference & CHSAA (5A) 1st Team All-State in 2024. He compiled 178/289 saves (61.5%) with 13 ground balls, 2 takeaways & 1 assist in 715 minutes. Owen held down the defense in games featuring blizzard-like conditions with 7.5 goals against average. Gatekeeping in Lacrosse is Native North American history requiring foundational footwork mixed with quick, controlled hand-eye coordination, unworldly vision & reaction time. Corsi has a sixth sense tracking ability developed in the rocky mountain's backdrop landscape terrain. He possesses essential size as the lefty is unanimously appraised as the top goalie returning to Colorado next year. Owen is super active out of the cage picking off passes or winning the chase to the end-line. He is focused & patient as a reactionary goalie rather than being known as a guesser. Corsi's evolution has stemmed from playing the ball true in nature. He is applauded for leadership skills that you will not see on tape & improved communication to organize the team's defense. <p class="text-gray-700">Mason Kelly earned 2nd Team All-Conference for the second straight year in 2024. He totaled 81 points as a sophomore with 28 goals & 53 assists (5.06 PPG). Mason led the state of Colorado in assists & finished ninth overall in points last season. He was named the team's Offensive Rookie MVP in 2023 in addition to the Iron Combine. Kelly had a mature freshman season with 16 goals & 26 assists totaling 42 points. He is a phenomenal finisher who puts the ball in the back of the net! Mason has great hands & a very smooth skill set. He is an ambidextrous player who dodges as a pass-first playmaker. Kelly is a virtuoso creator with supreme vision. He is most definitely a player that most others would want on their team. Mason will join a storied NCAA program that competes for league championships & an automatic qualifying bid to get into the NCAA tournament. Verbally committed to Towson.</p>

<p>Ben Stone earned 2nd Team All-Conference in 2024 & was selected as a Team Captain for the Raiders in 2025. He finished with 27 takeaways, picked up 26 ground balls, & scored 4 goals in 17 games as a junior. None bigger than the game-tying goals vs Cherry Creek in the Quarterfinals of the CHSAA (5A) State Playoffs in an upset win to send Regis Jesuit to the final 4. Ben collected 15 ground balls, 11 takeaways, & 1 assist as a Sophomore in 2023. He was the only freshman to make the Varsity team in 2022. He has been a starter since day 1 as a big, physical presence who can score & do it all. Stone totaled 14 ground balls, 8 takeaways, & 1 assist as a freshman. Rush was named 1st Team All-Conference in 2023 & 2024. He posted 43 points as a sophomore with 36 goals, 7 assists, & a shooting percentage of 64.2%. LaSelle scooped up 32 ground balls & 4 takeaways in 2023. He is a dual-sport athlete (soccer) who saw Varsity action as a freshman with 8 goals & 1 assist in 2022. Rush plays the game the right way continuing to grow his lacrosse IQ becoming a threat with both hands. He is a two-way midfielder who creates an advantageous match-up whether it is a short-stick or a pole because it is hard to stop him from dodging downhill. LaSelle could probably play Division 1 Lacrosse right now because of his size, frame, shooting, & work ethic. He is a consensus 3-star prospect with tremendous opportunity for growth at West Point. Sean is a feared long-stick who you do not dodge or he can make you look foolish. He approaches attackmen as a takeaway artist with a rare tenacity. <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='23603' first='JT' last='Cross'] earned CHSAA (5A) Honorable Mention All-State & 1st Team All-Conference in 2024. He collected 55 points as a freshman for the State Champion Eagles. JT scored 35 goals & added 20 assists which was good for the second most points on the team. He is unlike any other player in school history as the most highly touted recruit per class to date. Cross brings it as one of the best players on the field regardless of age. He is credited with routinely showing it every day & rarely having bad practice. JT is humble, hardworking, determined, & disciplined. He wants to be coached & corrected through the spotlight in a place most won't know how to react to it. He killed it as a freshman & it will be exciting to see how big his role is going to be as a sophomore. Cross has given confidence by continuing to make others around him better through his unselfish play! It is rare to see a young guy get the keys to the offense, especially the most prolific in the state.</p>

<p>Wes Foa is a two-way treasure in the midfield for Arapahoe. He is a multi-sport athlete who also received numerous Varsity letters for basketball. Wes first gained attention on the Lacrosse field in 2023 while playing in 18 games & starting in 10 for the Warriors who were at the time the defending State Champions from 2022. He helped his team reach the Elite 8 that year in the CHSAA (5A) tournament after keeping competitive games all season long with a younger roster. Foa chalked up 10 points with 7 goals & 3 assists in 2023. He added 20 groundballs & 9 takeaways to his sophomore stat line. Wes significantly jumped up as a junior scoring 23 points with 17 goals & 6 assists. He played a key role in his team's success returning to the CHSAA (5A) State Championship game & a runner-up finish. Foa scooped up 34 ground balls & collected 9 takeaways in 2024. He is mindful on defense as a short stick & is a total beast at that end of the field! Wes is a hitter who can get low to scrape his knuckles on the turf to pick up a ground ball & jet down the field. He is a righty rifleman for Arapahoe (Attackmen of the Year) who is sly & cunning on the left side. Parker is a top-notch passer who sets up his teammates for scoring. He can make a monumental shift on the ride with pressure to force turnovers & the skill to capitalize. Nicholas can skyrocket with another two years of development embarking on championship journeys. <p>Holden Hayes earned 1st Team All-Conference & CHSAA (5A) Honorable Mention All-State as a junior in 2024. He was a catalyst in the Face-Off circle pushing the break & assisting the team with winning the 2023 CHSAA (5A) State Championship! Holden is like a boxer at the X, fighting tooth & nail. He is a great talent & scrappy player with ultra-quick hands. Hayes can handle the ball on the run breaking through a double or triple team at times to make a play. He can do so many different things with the ball in possession. Holden wins it clean or mucks it up with good, respectful, competition. He is another dual-sport athlete with linebacker skills from football. Hayes exits with a clean move when he wins the whistle & is second to none with counter moves. Jaxson scored 31 goals & chipped in 32 assists for the Rangers. He was averaging 4.2 points per game & shooting at an impressive 45.6% rate. Fontenot led the way for his team in all statistical categories related to points. He is deadly inside-out of the (1-4-1) set with off-ball Mumbo action. Jaxson is a talented player who will sweep off of a misdirection counter or hit a time & room shot from the left wing. He is already in full bloom as an attacker who can hang on the back pipe for an easy finish or pump in a behind-the-back highlight goal. Fontenot bursts by defenders using his straight-line speed to draw & dump from the high wing or a carousel dodge for a wrap-around look. He initiates contact & is a dignified feeder with his right hand. Jaxson is willing to cross the midline & go back to the goalie for aid in the clear. He is further along than most players his age, having the potential to make a big splash in Colorado over the next 3 seasons & get on many college coaches' radars.</p>

Au scooped up 90 ground balls & won 155/186 face-offs (83.3%) throughout 15 games in 2023. He has been a force to be reckoned with since he was named freshman of the year at Heritage in 2022 when he finished with 38/71 draw controls (53.5%) & 2 assists. Kai is more than a FOGO as he will stay on & play with the aptitude of an attacker. He has twice been named MVP for the Eagles (2023 & 2024). Quillan doubled his production this past season while averaging 4.6 PPG in 11 contests as a sophomore. He finished with 36 goals, 15 assists & 51 points total. Gulick played a part in winning the 2023 CHSAA (5A) State Championship with Mountain Vista as a freshman. He averaged 2.3 PPG in 14 games with 19 goals, 13 assists & 32 points total in 2023. Quillan is a Team Captain in Lacrosse & football as he plays competitively as a linebacker for a championship contender team. He is a prototypical lefty attacker who can bring it with a hard shot from different angles. Quillan uses his body to shield off defenders as he frees his hands to shoot, underhand, sidearm, or over the top. He has a wide arsenal on offense & looks to bring the Golden Eagles back into the championship conversation. Gulick is a player to keep an eye on for the next two seasons before NCAA play.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Luke McLellan earned CHSAA (4A) 1st Team All-State in 2024. He made 165 saves (62.9%) & a 5.70 goals-against average through 742 minutes played in 17 games as a junior. He was named his team's specialty position award winner & has been 1st Team All-Conference twice (2023 - 2024). Luke has been a Team Captain since his sophomore season where he was awarded the team's spirit award. He accounted for 196 saves (61.6%) & a 7.62 goals-against average playing 761 minutes in 16 games during 2023. McLellan impressed his freshman season with 230 saves (65.9%) & 6.61 goals-against average playing 759 minutes in 18 games. He is a fighter between the pipes who battles in & out of the crease with a career record of 35-16 so far. Luke is a consistent ball-stopper with a nice touch on his outlet passes to spark transition. He matches stick high & reacts quickly to change levels for low shots. McLellan hustles hard after the loose ball & will win possessions off of the end line through diving efforts. He is a sound keeper who plays with confidence & can deliver a hit at GLE. Luke is credited with 3 career shut-outs, 57 ground balls, 5 takeaways, & 1 assist. He is a quality prospect who will keep getting better at the next level & separate himself with his clearing accuracy.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Noah Stull is an abundant scorer who has a valid snipe shot from the left side. He scored 66 points in 13 games with 27 goals & 39 assists in 2024. Noah averaged 5.07 PPG as a junior & picked up 15 groundballs. He is a high-percentage playmaker who is shifty & aggressive with the ball. Stull was an accurate shooter (46.8%) in 2023 through 12 games despite having suffered a mid-season injury. He posted 19 ground balls, 5 takeaways, 22 goals & 9 assists for 31 points as a sophomore. Noah made appearances in 7 games as a freshman scoring 3 points with 2 goals & 1 assist. He also added 2 ground balls & 2 takeaways in 2022. He is an unselfish passer who is willing to make the correct decision for a game-winning assist. Noah is suave on the field with the natural size & presence of a college attacker on the ride. The Colorado High School Activities Association crowned two State Champions in 2024: (5A) Valor Christian 17-2 & (4A) Erie 15-3. Other noteworthy programs like Arapahoe (17-2), Cherry Creek (13-4), Legend (14-4), Colorado Academy (11-5), Regis Jesuit (11-7), & Northfield (15-4) entertained productive seasons that included deep runs in the playoffs. The CHSAA seeds 24 teams to make the playoffs in both the 5A & 4A brackets respectively where the top 8 seeds receive a 1st round bye.
