Five Pennsylvania Summer Stock Risers

Below is a review of five prospects from Pennsylvania who played outstanding lacrosse over the summer and thus increased their recruiting stock significantly.    This summer from Maverik Showtime to NAL to the New Balance All-America event, Cummins was a suffocating on ball presence. This lefty pole owns noteworthy size, a long wingspan and smooth lateral footwork. That trifecta enabled Cummins to stay glued to ball carriers for long stretches and turn those players multiple times. His ability to press far out on ball carriers made Cummins a disruptive force. When his opponent committed a mistake, Cummins was quick to strike with a slap, lift, or poke that put the ball on the turf. Cummins then used his aggressive stick and positioning skills to secure that ground ball. His speed and elusive cuts allowed Cummins to push the fast break deep into the offensive end. As an off-ball defender, Cummins was a high IQ pole who excelled at coming off his man at the right moment to deliver a powerful trail check that caused a turnover. Whether he legged the ball out himself or fired a smart outlet pass up field, Cummins was a plus player in the clearing game too.     Dumais posted a breakout spring in which he was a major contributor for a Hill School squad that advanced to the PAISAA state tournament semifinals. For an encore, Dumais assembled a monster summer 20026. This highly skilled and versatile offensive prospect helped LI Express win the 2029 division title at three different tournaments -- Rumble at Rutgers, Primetime Summer Invitational and NLF Championships. This summer, Dumais displayed a quick burst and serious shake as he initiated from everywhere in the offensive end. Once Dumais had separated from his defender, he scored and distributed on the run. His filthy shooting skills and creative finishes produced a slew of Instagram worthy goals. College coaches will love the way Dumais constantly attacked the opposing defense but was never out of control. When he operated off-ball, Dumais used timely sweeps and cuts to produce clean scoring chances around the cage.     During June and July, this rising junior really impressed with his ability to execute swift, but controlled drops to make saves on low shots. On those denials, Kyle displayed quick reflexes, incredible flexibility, and a willingness to use any part of his body to make a stop. Kyle also did a fantastic job of scrambling back to his feet and then making saves on rebound attempts. On the top side, Kyle's tracking skills and fast hands produced a high percentage of clean saves. The way Kyle popped off his line on perimeter shots was impressive too. Kyle's poise and refusal to bite on stick / head fakes enabled him to stone shot attempts around the crease. Once the ball was in his stick, Kyle routinely delivered precise clearing passes. Kyle kept his defensive unit connected via consistent communication.        This past spring, Strid assembled a remarkable sophomore campaign during which he registered 41 goals to go along with 25 assists and was named as a 2nd Team All-Catholic League selection. Strid used the momentum from the 2026 high school season as a springboard for an outstanding summer circuit that increased his recruiting stock significantly. In June and July, Strid was a serious matchup issue for opposing defenses. His length, solid frame and filthy stick skills made it difficult for short sticks to defend him. On the other hand, his speed and cut-back abilities made it impossible for lumbering poles to get stops against Strid. In addition to getting downhill and then scoring on the move, Strid proved to be a lethal step-down shooter too. This lefty also demonstrated that he could operate at X and dodge for goals or feed cutting teammates. As a bonus to his offensive skills, Strid's relentless motor and ground ball work produced a slew of “garbage into gold” scoring chances.        During June and July, Westwood continued to show that he is one of the most underrated face-off specialists in Pennsylvania. The first item that popped about Westwood was his ability to muck it up at the dot. Westwood used his non-stop motor and aggressive stick to grind out ugly wins and chase down loose balls. His footwork and positioning skills enabled Westwood to execute defensive exits and then hold off his opponent until he secured possession. Westwood's dynamic reactions, fast hands and textbook mechanics produced a slew of clean wins too. After Westwood had secured possession, he exploded away from the dot and triggered odd man breaks for his squad. His polished stick skills and ability to shoot / pass with either hand, made Westwood a plus transition player. This summer Westwood demonstrated that he values possession and will not push ill-advised fast breaks.
