2028 Offensive Standouts at the IMLCA Players Summit, Part II

Baiting checks to gain a step is one of the more advanced skills you see in dodgers, and Tanner Folk already has it. He scored one against the NE Blazers by selling a pass, baiting a check, and then freeing his hands up the righty hashes. Plays like that are part of why he looks like a next-level scorer. His underhand release is another piece. There's real deception in it, whether he has time and room or is in transition, and he hits his diagonals well—low-to-low far side or the same look with his head low into a quick snap of the wrists, near-high finish. When his release is so quick, it makes it incredibly tough on goalies.   As a dodger, he uses sharp, shifty movements to attack approaches from behind, and he's comfortable getting to either hash. He'll also lull you by starting slow only to explode into space to squeeze in a shot or feed. When Folk is already showing a handful of high-level skills, his potential is exciting to think about.     I did not have much room left in my notes after watching Cram against the Silverbacks and Denver Elite at IMLCA. He is a pure goal scorer, and he finds ways to finish from all over the field. He was dangerous up the hashes, sweeping across the middle, shooting with his feet set, and working in tight. Defenders have to respect topside because so much of his game is built around sweeping to the middle for that lefty on-the-run shot, which he can still get off even with pressure on his hands. Once opponents start overplaying that topside, he has enough under moves to keep them honest and get to the cage. He also looked comfortable behind the cage and mixed in jump shots and leaners that made him even tougher to contain.     Western Reserve got a strong transfer in Keiran Jones after a big junior year at Stillwater (Minn.), where he posted more than 34 goals and 67 assists. As the focal point of that offense, he developed skills other players do not always get. The obvious one is his ability to read slides and find open teammates. Defenses had to stay glued to his hands all spring because once he got his hands free, he could punish them in a hurry. That also fed into his stop-and-go style of dodging, where he does a great job changing speeds and freezing sliders until the help is too late. He can hit the spots he wants on the run, and at IMLCA he showed a nice feel for faking and finishing on the doorstep.     There's a lot to like about Gibson's game. He is a slick, quick midfielder who can dodge from all over the field and score on the run with both hands. One of the most impactful parts of his game is his compact, smooth release. It does not take him long to go from windup to release, which makes his shot look even faster to goalies. At IMLCA, I saw him score with his right hand going down the alley and with his left hand after he stopped and shot around his defender going up the hashes. That is a good example of the many ways he can score and the different spots from which he can do it. This summer, I have also seen him feed well behind the goal and use his windup to open up teammates on the backside.     After reclassing and transferring to WRA, Demeter joined an already loaded 2Way '28 group this summer and fit right in at IMLCA. He brings a hard-dodging, hard-shooting style that any team can use. His straight-line speed lets him get to the middle consistently, and when defenders take away his right hand, he is willing to get into them, create separation, and roll back left-handed. There is a lot of torque in his windup, which gives his shots real velocity. The same dodging ability also carries over into the clear, where he can handle one-man responsibilities.
