On Thursday afternoon, Westtown School hosted Academy of the New Church in a much-anticipated Friends School League game.

This was a tight contest (2-2) until halfway through the second quarter. That's when Westtown's [player_tooltip player_id='168124' first='Colton' last='Johnson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='174989' first='Quartez' last='Walker-Welch'] popped back-to-back goals for the Moose. Those two scores ignited a six-goal run by Westtown that extended deep into the third quarter.

Late in the third quarter, Westtown led 8-2. That's when [player_tooltip player_id='127622' first='Shane' last='Bradley'] found the back of the net and broke ANC's scoring drought. Unfortunately, a comeback was not in the cards for ANC. Westtown quickly struck back with a goal to increase their lead to 9-3 and went on to win 11-5.

Seigler impressed with his quick reflexes and poise under hailstorm of shots from Westtown. There were a number of possessions where Westtown peppered Seigler with a slew of shots and he denied all of those attempts. Seigler made a number of swift but controlled drops to stop low shots. In addition to making stops, Seigler showed grit and hustle on a couple chases he won for ANC. Plus, Seigler delivered a number of precise outlet passes that helped ANC clear the ball.

Westtown's defensive unit was focused on limiting Bradley's opportunities, but that did not stop the senior attack from posting a hat trick. His first goal was a remarkable individual effort on which the Drexel dodged down the left alley to GLE, fought off a double team, retraced his steps up the hash, then turned and ripped a right hander into the net. Bradley also displayed his quick release and precise aim in the 3rd quarter when he scored via a low-to-low shot from GLE. In addition to his ability to initiate, Bradley proved he could work off-ball and find open space for clean looks, too.

At 6'4” and nearly 200 pounds, Smith provided an imposing presence on defense for Westtown. On Tuesday night, Smith used his athleticism, wingspan, and power to disrupt numerous ANC possessions. Smith pursued ball carries out on the perimeter and caused turnovers with forceful stick checks. He deflected a number of passes/shots, too. Additionally, Smith execute physical slides as well as double teams that put the ball on the ground too. College coaches will love that Smith's long strides allow him to close out on offensive players quickly.

Smith is a powerfully built face off specialist who displayed a full understanding of how to use his size and physicality to gain the advantage on draws. Once Smith had won the clamp cleanly, he bulled his way past his opponent and then down the field. His fast hands and polished footwork were other keys to Smith's clean face off wins. Smith also did a fantastic job of pivoting and holding off his foe with a box out until he could secure possession. This 2027 exhibited a high IQ and polished passing skills on several trips into the offensive end. Smith is committed to Division II D'Youville University.

This Hampton University commit had his versatile skill set on full display during Westtown's win over ANC. Walker-Welch scored three goals, handed out a couple of assists and operated at SSDM. Walker-Welch's goal in the second quarter was an Instagram worthy gem. On that play, Walker-Welch took the ball at midfield, split a double team with a spin move, cut back to his right to elude the next defender and then raced down the middle of the field until he was five yards out where he then fired the ball over the goalie's shoulder and into the net. The speed, change of direction moves and stick maneuvers Walker-Welch demonstrated on that scoring effort were remarkable.
