On Thursday night, La Salle College HS (PA) traveled to Chester County (Pa.) for a matchup with undefeated and No. 2 nationally ranked Malvern Prep.

This contest was a low-scoring affair that featured incredible performances by both goalies. Malvern's [player_tooltip player_id='19759' first='Thomas' last='Ploszay'] (Villanova commit) and La Salle's [player_tooltip player_id='143387' first='Roman' last='Ippoldo'] (Cornell commit) took turns stoning opposing shooters as the two netminders put on a goalie clinic.

Despite Ippoldo's tremendous efforts, Malvern Prep sophomore attackman [player_tooltip player_id='170717' first='Joey' last='Murphy'] managed to find the back of the net twice last night and propel Malvern to a 5-3 win. The victory pushed MP's record to 6-0 on the season.

Below is a review of the prospects who impressed during Tuesday night's La Salle (Pa.) at Malvern Prep (Pa.) game.

LaSalle College HS

In addition to Ippoldo's goaltending, Dwyer's work at SSDM was another major reason La Salle was able to keep the clamps on the high-powered MP offense. Last night, Dwyer used his smooth lateral movements, active stick, and physicality to provide menacing on-ball pressure. Dwyer did a fantastic job of getting into ball carriers early in their dodges and moving those offensive players off their intended path. This 2027 prospect also used his speed and hustle coming out of the box to shut down a few transition opportunities for MP. Dwyer was a plus player in La Salle's clearing game, too.

Back in early September, Ippoldo committed to Cornell, and on Tuesday night, it was obvious why he was a Week 1 commit for the Class of 2027. Against MP, Ippoldo was simply unbelievable. He ate up missiles from deep and stoned a number of MP shot attempts that came from point-blank range. Ippoldo's fast hands, agility, and positioning skills were extremely impressive. Another item that popped about Ippoldo last night was his outlet passes. Ippoldo did a fantastic job of getting the ball out of his stick swiftly and leading teammates down the field with precise dimes.

Malvern Prep

The speedy and athletic Delvescovo had an impact at both ends of the field for MP in this win. On defense, Delvescovo harassed ball carriers all over the field and caused turnovers via heavy stick checks or crafty pokes. When the ball hit the ground, Delvescovo was quick to secure possession for MP and then smartly deliver a clearing pass. In the 1st quarter, Delvescovo also proved to be a legitimate transition threat when he scored a goal on the secondary break. On that play, Delvescovo raced upfield on the MP fast break. When La Salle stopped MP's initial push, Delvescovo sat down in the high crease area. Two swift passes later, the ball was in Delvescovo's stick, and he quickly fired a filthy turnaround jump shot into the top corner.

This stock-rising 2028 offensive prospect had already registered eight goals and five assists across MP's first five wins of the season. Murphy's scoring ways continued last night as he notched another two goals in this win. His first tally was a smooth catch-and-shoot play from the high crease area as Murphy fired a low-to-low snipe past La Salle's goalie. Murphy's second goal came in the late 4th quarter and served as the dagger for MP. On that score, Murphy received a slick diagonal skip pass from midfielder [player_tooltip player_id='175099' first='Conor' last='McCarthy'] and then cranked a shot from the wing into the net. In addition to the quick release and precise aim on his shot, Murphy impressed with the hustle he displayed on several chases and GB pickups. Murphy's field awareness and crafty off-ball movements are well beyond his years.

During the opening weeks of the 2026 season, this Villanova commit has been a brick wall between the pipes. On Tuesday night, Ploszay's outstanding goalie play continued as he limited a La Salle offense that boasts a host of DI prospects to just three goals. To be honest, Ploszay made a few saves on Tuesday night that were jaw-dropping, game-changing stops. He cleanly snagged numerous rockets by La Salle on the top side. Ploszay also flashed impressive agility as he executed several quick drops to deny low shot attempts by La Salle. Still, the most impressive aspect of Ploszay's performance may have been the poise and quick reactions he displayed in stopping a handful of rebound scoring opportunities for La Salle. Once the ball was in his stick, Ploszay executed accurate outlet passes that triggered MP's clearing game.
