Bishop Gorman Outduels Spanish Springs, 14-6

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Spanish Springs traveled down from Reno this weekend to take on a couple of the Las Vegas teams. Their first game was up against the Bishop Gorman Gaels on Friday night, and it was an entertaining game to watch. The Gaels came out hot and scored the first 3 goals, making it 3-0 after the first 12 minutes of play. LSM Merek Mastrov then continued to pour it on when he unleashed an absolute heater to make it 4-0.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Spanish Springs then got on the scoreboard when attackman Parker Fewins found the back of the net. Fellow attackman Ethan Berry then made it 4-2, and all of a sudden the Cougars were in it. However, Gorman's offense didn't slow down, and by halftime it was 8-3 Gaels.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In the third quarter, the Gaels rattled off 3 more goals and went into the 4th quarter with a commanding 11-3 lead. The Spanish Springs Cougars didn't quit though, and they scored a few more goals of their own thanks to Ethan Berry and Parker Fewins. The 6'2 LSM leveraged his size and power to absolutely rip shots from the perimeter, which resulted in him scoring a hat trick for Bishop Gorman. Two of the goals were especially notable. One was an underhand rip that went top shelf, and the other was a hammer of a shot from about 17 yards out that went top left. He isn't afraid to get into scrums, and he's actually fairly skilled at scooping the ball up in traffic. He also has the ability to run through checks, and that's how he scored his first goal of the night. His second goal came when he got to the middle of the field and let it go with confidence. He notched his first goal by dodging to the middle of the field and shooting on the run. Fewins then tallied another by getting up the hash and releasing it at the right time. His third goal came later during a man-up chance, when he ducked under the defense to put it away.
