Standout Performers From Victory Fall Classic, Part II

This athletic lefty played O-Mid as well as SSDM and even bumped down to attack on a couple of possessions. On offense Banasz proved to be a shifty dodger who he could unleash powerful and accurate shots on the run. His quick burst enabled Banasz blow past the initial defender, forcing the opposing defenders to slide to him. When that happened, Banasz moved the ball to open teammates on the backside. As a SSDM, Banasz was a tenacious on-ball defender who created turnover via heavy sticks. He also showed a knack for slicing through passing lanes for steals. This past weekend Charles showed he is comfortable initiating from anywhere on the field. Once he got downhill, Charles ran through stick checks and eluded slides until he found space for a crank on the run. Charles also demonstrated that he could dodge down the alley or sweep across a defense, stop on a dime, then roll-back and fire on net. When he was off the ball, Charles used timely cuts, drifts, and pops to create high percentage looks. The trifecta of Lamb's quick reactions, polished stick skills and nose for the ball produced numerous clean GB pickups. When the ball was on the turf in traffic, Lamb skillfully used his feet or hockey'd the ball into open space and then scooped up the ground ball. As a defender, Lamb excelled in 1v1 situations. He used well-time lifts and pokes as well as a can opener or two to create turnovers. On one hand, the fast and physical Porn took the body and used repeated heavy stick checks to cause turnovers. On the other, Porn also displayed a finesse style of defense where he patiently ran with an offensive player until he saw an opening for a well-timed poke check or lift. Once the ball was on the ground, Porn quickly secured possession. He then used his speed to carry the ball out of the defensive zone for a transition scoring opportunity. His repeatedly tracked shooters and then swiftly dropped to make stops on attempts below his knees. Torio's impressive agility and active stick produced a high percentage of clean saves. When opponents generated opportunities around the crease, Torio was a poised and patient net minder who snuffed out those shots. Once the ball was in Torio's possession, he delivered precise clearing passes. He wasted no time in getting the ball out of his stick and up the field.
