Following last week's report on the top Big 10-bound attackmen at the New Balance All-American Games, we're now shifting over to the midfield position, where there was no shortage of high-end talent.

Considering Pompeii flew under the radar leading up to his commitment to Maryland last October, it's fair to say that that's no longer the case, especially after a stellar few days at New Balance weekend. A strong, athletic, and two-handed offensive weapon, Pompeii was among the most impressive midfielders at the event and earned All-Tournament honors. He was particularly strong in a three-goal outing in a matchup with the Midwest squad that was chock-full of fellow Big 10 commits. He found the net on a low-and-away offering out of a rollback at the end of the first quarter, on a split dodge, and by getting underneath the defense. Later on in the event, Philly continued to ride his hot hand. I love how he doesn't back down from either matchup, as well as how dynamic he is in terms of the way he's able to create offense. He's got a big-time shot and mixed up his release points well throughout the weekend.

Danna's another dynamic offensive stalwart who raised his stock in a major way at New Balance weekend. An athletically gifted left-hander who glides with the ball in his stick, he separates like you'd expect from the son of an NFL assistant coach. On a few occasions, he got several steps ahead of a few of the most athletic midfielders in the country before uncorking shots on the run. Danna's 11 goals ranked second at the event, as did his four assists. It's more than just his production though, it's how he produced. He flew by everybody and just moved differently from his peers, and as a passer, he took what the defense gave him and tossed some terrific skip passes. Penn State got a gem in Danna.

Set to become the Cadets' primary option on offense after the graduation of a fellow Terp, Offutt looks primed for a huge senior year. Another All-Tournament selection, his overall impact along with his ability to draw slides far exceeded his relatively modest point production. That's not to say that he didn't score big goals though, as his unassisted tally dead-locked a tight battle with Philly late before DC secured the victory. He's an exceptionally gifted outside shooter with his feet moving, operating with savvy and slickness when going to the goal.

Boyer's year-over-year improvement is hard to miss — getting to work with first-year Scots defensive coordinator and PLL All-Star Matt Dunn clearly helped his development, as his defensive principles and cover ability have drastically improved. He does a plethora of things at a high level. Boyer gets the ball up off the carpet cleanly every time and goes hard in scrum situations to gain possession for his squad. Once the ball is in his stick, he does a great job of rolling away from pressure and getting the ball upfield. When covering ball-carriers 1v1, he's physical and throws precise checks with his feet moving at full speed. Expect him to keep moving his game forward between now and his arrival in Columbus.

Having watched Skeean closely over the past two years, his motor and effort are virtually unmatched. He empties the tank in all situations and is like an Energizer bunny out there — if he ever gets tired, he hides it well. Possessing off-the-charts intangibles that you simply can't teach, his energy level is infectious on the rest of the team, and it's hard to understate just how impactful his play is on every team he's been a part of. A bonafide pest of a longpole, he'll follow opposing midfielders into the parking lot if it means coming up with the ball. He has a full-field impact and is always willing to go to the rack, making appropriate decisions with the ball in his stick and never forcing the issue.
