As it often is in Louisville, rivals Trinity and St. Xavier met for a second time in a year and that second meeting came with the season on the line. For the second time in as many years, however, the Rocks and Tigers did not meet in the Kentucky Scholastic Lacrosse League championship game but faced off in the semifinals.

Trinity won the first meeting of the year 14-13 in a double overtime classic at their home Marshall Stadium. The Rocks played host to the Tigers this time as well but won in a much more confident fashion, taking down St. Xavier 11-5. The win advances the Shamrocks to the state championship game for the first time since 2022. It is the first time since 2007 that Trinity has beaten St. Xavier twice in a season.

In Wednesday's nightcap at Marshall Stadium, South Oldham overcame a multitude of injuries to defeat Kentucky Country Day 13-6. The win moves South Oldham into the KSLL title game for the second consecutive season.

With the loss, St. Xavier ends their season with a 13-8 record. It was the program's first under head coach Kevin Doherty. KCD ends the year with a 16-5 overall record.

Trinity and South Oldham will play in the KSLL title game at 11am on Saturday morning. It will be the final KSLL championship game with the Kentucky High School Athletic Association sanctioning lacrosse beginning next spring.

Here's a look at the players who stood out amongst the rest during Wednesday's double-header in St. Matthews.
<!-- wp:acf/evaluation-block {"name":"acf/evaluation-block","data":{"player_evaluations_0_player":["20799"],"_player_evaluations_0_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"A focal point of the St. Xavier defense on Wednesday night, Tiger LSMs [player_tooltip player_id='24502' first='Miles' last='Dobson'] and Lincoln Bayer did a good job early on of trying to keep Bryant from getting in his comfort zone as a playmaker who is at his best creating off downhill dodgers. However, the Fairfield verbal eventually broke through and ended the night as one of Trinity's leading scorers. Bryant found the back of the net twice and assisted on another score.rnrnBryant got going midway through the first quarter as he found an open Huck Campbell for a score to pull Trinity to a 3-0 start. The midfielder would help grow that advantage to 5-0 as he was able to get his hands free for a midrange score that was the last of the opening frame. He once again did a great job helping to limit the St. Xavier midfield and in particular the Tigers' [player_tooltip player_id='20802' first='Thomas' last='Andriole']. A tough matchup physically, Alexander helped hold him without a goal or a point on Wednesday night.rnrnPossessing the speed and stick skills to be an impactful player in transition offense, Alexander tapped into that piece of his game multiple times in the contest as he is not afraid to cross the midline. In a physical battle at the not all night, Rupp still did what he does best and ensured the Dragons a possession advantage. And after a slow start, that advantage started to pay off. After that, however, the South Oldham defense locked in and routinely gave the Bearcats offense fits the remainder of the night. Helping to lead the charge on that end for the Dragons was Jake Butler. The sophomore defenseman is a two-sport athlete who also plays defensive back and slot back in football. He brings a lot of size and physicality to the lacrosse field.rnrnConstantly winning matchups, Butler was able to stay with his man and make him uncomfortable with his physicality on-ball.
