During his sophomore season this past spring, Townsend showed a lot of growth and improvement. While making his biggest impact as an off-ball playmaker for St. Xavier, he grew into a key cog of that offense and ended the spring with 36 points off 25 goals and 11 assists. Townsend has been able to impact the game all over the offensive end, making plays from both the traditional attack and midfield spots.
