About Wayte
Expert Analysis
Ty Xanders | Prep Lacrosse Scout
I’ve been a fan of McKnight’s game for quite some time, having seen him perform beyond his years at NHSLS against much older (and bigger) competition — though he has since bulked up. He was awesome at IMLCA, dazzling on Saturday in a five-goal outing against Legacy while scoring in a multitude of ways and carrying that momentum into Sunday’s playoffs. A smooth, artful dodger with stellar body control, McKnight takes care of the ball and consistently plays within himself. He’s fearless and tough, excelling in scrambles and in unsettled situations, picking up tough GBs and turning them into goals. You always know what you’re getting from MdKnight: he never leaves anything to be desired in terms of effort and has a knack for elevating the play of those around him.

One of the most skilled and intelligent attackmen in the 2028 class, Wayte plays the game with a poise and understanding well beyond his years. He competes fearlessly, embracing contact and consistently finding ways to reach the cage. A versatile offensive threat, he can produce with or without the ball and thrives in the pick-and-roll game, where his timing and vision shine. Wayte’s riding ability is deceptively strong, and his gritty, high-motor play gives him the edge in tight matchups. Reminiscent of former Virginia star Ian Laviano, he brings that same blend of toughness, precision, and creativity, and continues to stand out as a leader for Texas Nationals.
