I quickly identified Cummings this summer by the blonde hair flowing out of his Blue Ridge helmet. The Greensboro, N.C., native reclassed to the ’28 group after joining the Barons in the fall, and he checks all the boxes you want in an LSM. He is an on-ball presence who gets into dodgers with physicality and stays aggressive on their hands. Cummings plays well off ball too, getting his stick into lanes, timing his slides, and using his body well when he has to slide. Off the ground, he seems to navigate his pole in impossible ways to avoid checks, and he pushes the tempo really well in transition with sure stick work and a shot you have to respect.

Cummings is an extraordinarily athletic and tenacious pole with refined footwork and elite quickness. That extensive list of assets combined with his high IQ have earned Cummings the reputation as one of the top 2027 LSMs in North Carolina. Cummings’ ability to aggressively defend in open space and then cause turnovers with his active stick is next level. Once the ball hits the turf, Cummings will pounce on it and then use his extraordinary separation speed to carry the ball into the offensive. Opponents should not sleep on Cummings’ offensive skills. He will not hesitate to fire on net in transition or even in 6V6 action. His non-stop motor and willingness to do all the little things that contribute to winning will really impress college coaches. During his sophomore campaign, Cummings’s caused 47 turnovers, scooped up 165 ground balls and scored 22 goals. Those impressive stats earned Cummings a Metro-4A All-Conference selection.
