Expert Analysis
Michael Campanile | Prep Lacrosse Scout
Sam Nylund was a lefty attackman who really stood out at The Show. When the ball was in his stick, he showed flashes of greatness. He put up a hat trick in the first game I saw him play, then added an assist in the All-Star Game the next day. What stood out most was his pure goal-scoring ability as a dodger, because he was able to create in multiple areas and was deceptive both individually and in the two-man game. On his own, he has the simplicity to plant his foot and get where he wants, but also the creativity to mix in deception with posture changes and bounce-outs. He used picks well to get his hands free from the wing and off the endline, and he also mixed in rejects effectively while drawing slides underneath. When it was time to finish, he showed a smooth release that could generate plenty of power both on the run and with his feet set.

is a 6’3 left-handed attackman from the Richmond area who brings a dangerous scoring presence to the offensive end. An excellent dodger and shooter, Nylund consistently creates his own looks and finishes with confidence from multiple spots on the field. He uses his length effectively to protect his hands and generate separation, making him difficult to contain once he gets downhill. As his frame continues to fill out, his upside projects at an even higher level. Currently the team’s leading goal scorer, Nylund has established himself as a go-to offensive threat in key moments.
