Expert Analysis
Carey Smith | Prep Lacrosse Scout
Leatherman is a fleet footed rising sophomore with a well-rounded skill set. He is an especially effective transition player who is capable of running the length of the field for a goal or an assist. In 6v6 action, Leatherman can score from all three levels. However, his elusive change of direction moves, and filthy stick skills make him especially dangerous when he is on the run. Leatherman can dodge from the wing or up top, separate from his man and then find space for a 12–to-15-yard rips. Or Leatherman can continue his charge to the net, elude sliding defenders along the way and then finish in close. Additionally, Leatherman’s catch and fire skills must be respected too. Leatherman’s quick release and power enable him to unleash sidearms and overheads that find the back of the net. During his freshman campaign at OJR, Leatherman recorded 24 goals and 17 assists.
