When Spooner wins a face-off cleanly, it is game over, because his explosive burst allows him to easily separate from the pack and then streak into the offensive end. With his shifty moves and two-handed skills, Spooner is a threat to carry the ball deep below the restraining line and then score or distribute while on the run. When he needs to grind out a win, Spooner can use his powerful hands and textbook technique to saw down and then secure possession. Spooner executes beautiful defensive exits too. His ability to spin and then use his body to hold off his opponent while he scoops through the GB is remarkable. Lastly, Spooner is a master at utilizing sweeps and jabs to push the rock into open space where he can then snap up the loose ball.
