and Kody Haan proved very hard to contain during St. Ignatius’ East Coast trip, giving both Georgetown Prep and Chaminade problems. Ripple posted three goals and two assists in the Wildcats’ matchup with Chaminade, along with two goals in the win over Georgetown Prep.
Against Prep, Ripple opened the scoring with a smooth left-handed finish up the hashes, threading a shot around a tight defender under pressure. His second came after catching on the wing, turning the corner, and releasing a quick low-to-low rip before the trailing check could land—showcasing his ability to finish through contact and at speed. In the Chaminade game, Ripple buried two lefty step-downs from a similar low release and added a right-handed goal off a dodge from behind the cage. He also assisted Haan twice, highlighting the chemistry between the two and how seamlessly they read each other’s movements. The “Cali Connection” of Haan and Ripple has become a focal point of the St. Ignatius offense—one that upcoming defenses need to focus on when it comes to scouting the Wildcats.

earned 1st Team All WCAL with 61 points in 2024. He received 2nd Team All WCAL as a freshman with 63 points (47 goals & 16 assists) in 2023. Max gets a remarkable lift on his shot from the left wing & can mix in a fundamental overhand shot that changes levels with velocity. He is a sharp left-handed attacker who can float over the top of the midfield for a step down. Ripple shows an uncanny ability to finish with guys on his back drawing the dead ball foul that is valuable for extra-man offense. He is always presenting a target with the stick by his ear, demanding the ball inside for a quick-stick finish! Max is evasive in tight, typically avoiding contact & frustrating lost defenders. He can dodge a short stick aggressively in the invert, showcasing the ability to feed in the lower left quadrant or turn the corner with his right. Ripple is tough on the ride, especially box side where he holds his ground rather than playing a sub-game. He picks off passes & scoops up ground balls forcing the defense to scramble in uneven situations. Max shares the ball quickly making the extra pass if his teammates are in a better position to score in the unsettled play. A consensus 4-star prospect. Verbally committed to Michigan.

Between an excellent showing a few days earlier at the Prime Time Invitational and an eight-goal week at Showtime, there’s no doubt that Ripple has raised his stock as of late. While his size may be a concern to many, he makes it work, and I’d have to imagine that he’ll add weight to his 145-pound frame as he gets deeper into his career. His skill level, however, cannot be denied. He found the net on inside rolls, step-downs, pretty low-to-high offerings, and by getting back to the middle of the field on the run. More than anything, he made the most of his opportunities and didn’t settle for takes that were just okay. Overall, there’s a lot to like about Ripple’s offensive skill set, plus he puts in the work on the ride, too.
