On the lacrosse field, McCloud is an athletic pole with imposing size, polished footwork, and an active stick. That impressive list of assets enables McCloud to get into ball carriers early in their dodge and stop them cold. When he is defending on-ball, McCloud can create turnovers via slaps, lifts, pokes, and can openers. As an off-ball defender, McCloud excels at putting the ball on the ground via physical slides and well-timed trail checks. McCloud also has a tremendous feel for when to come off his man and deliver a turnover-causing double team. In the clearing game, McCloud can deliver smart and precise outlet passes or leg the ball out himself.
