Expert Analysis
Ty Xanders | Prep Lacrosse Scout
For the first time since the Class of 2018 recruiting cycle, the Big Red went outside the state of New York for their face-off guy, dipping into the ISL to grab a proven talent. Friedman has been utterly dominant in one of the nation’s top leagues, though he’s been on a limited pitch count as a senior since returning from injury. His clamp-to-exit progression is fluid, and he’s been revered as one of the more coachable guys in the class. He plays smart, fast, and with great spatial awareness, showing that he’s not just a FOGO, rather a lacrosse player who happens to dominate at the X. Cornell is getting a cerebral player with an elite motor.

A big reason why his team spent much of the season ranked Top 15 nationally, Friedman was the league’s most dominant face-off specialist as a sophomore, going 70 percent at the X and adding three goals and two assists. More than anything, he was remarkably consistent. Bringing a cerebral approach to the position and flanked by two of the better wing players in the country, the Face-Off Factory product showed the ability to adapt and adjust throughout every game, and very rarely did he let his opponent go on a run. In addition, he’s a threat with the ball in his stick and comfortable staying on the field. At Cornell, he’ll join a program that loves players with his kind of skill set.
