Carey Smith | Prep Lacrosse Scout
Planck is a long, athletic, and versatile prospect. This sophomore has demonstrated that he can impact the game from midfield as well as all three attack spots. Still, Planck is most effective when he operates from X or the corners. From those spots, Planck can burst past his defender and then streak to the middle of the field for a shot on the run. Or he can sweep around from X, execute an inside spin move, and then score in close. Planck’s wiry frame and polished footwork enable him to slip between defenders on his runs to the net. Of course, Planck can crank catch and fire shots from GLE, too. At 6-foot-3, Planck can see over the top of most defenses. Combine that fact with his patience and field vision, and you get an extraordinary feeder.

Recently this wiry and agile prospect has impressed with his well-rounded offensive skill set. Planck has proved he can run at attack or midfield, play with both hands, and score as well as distribute. This sophomore can initiate from anywhere on the field, but he was especially effective when he quarterbacked the offense from X. Behind the cage, Planck’s quick cuts enabled him to change direction multiple times until he shook his defender. Then Planck used his quick burst to come around the corner for a dunk on the crease. Planck’s also worked as a patient feeder at X who delivered timely passes to cutters. Planck’s off-ball skills proved to be a highly underrated asset. He frequently cut or drifted into open space for easy catch and shoot goals.
