Sim’s confidence this spring has been off the charts compared to where it was last summer, and it has translated into significant production in impressive fashion. On Monday night, he pumped in five goals to finish with 39 on the season — over the Flyers’ final 10 games, the Cornell commit notched four or more goals on five different occasions. He got Chaminade on the board by winning his matchup back to the middle of the field and going high to low offside, then found the net four minutes later on a pretty give-and-go with

, and both tallies made things interesting as Chaminade tried to close the gap on SA’s second half lead.
I can’t say enough good things about how much his game has progressed, as he’s making a number of programs pay for slow-playing or passing on him in September. His play will be critical for a new-look Chaminade offense next year, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he bumps down to attack, though he’s undoubtedly a college middie.

This Cornell commit served as the closer for Chaminade during their high-profile win. Sim posted four goals on Saturday, three of which came during the 4th quarter as he cemented the victory for the Flyers. The most impressive of his 4th quarter goals came when Sim exploded down the right alley, gained a step on his man, then flipped his stick to his inside hand before depositing the ball into the net via a lefty overhand. Sim displayed serious shake and refined stick skills throughout this game. He was impossible to defend 1v1, which put constant pressure on Salesianum’s slide package.

Sim plays the two-man game with a level of IQ and precision rarely seen at this level. He’s equally effective as a dodger and a picker, making him a constant problem for defenses. As a dodger, Sim manipulates his defender to come over picks, creating just enough separation for his dangerous shot on the run. He’s also adept at finding his picker on slips or fly-bys, using subtle deception and avoiding the tell of staring down his target.
As a picker, Sim’s timing and awareness are just as sharp. He slips into open space for clean step-down looks and knows exactly when to quick-slip behind the cage to open shooting lanes up the hashes. His consistent ability to generate high-quality chances in the two-man game is a clear sign that Sim operates on a different level than most players in his class.
