Back in 2025, Smith, a California transplant who moved to Garden City, set a program record with 46 goals and 27 assists as a freshman before following that up with 47 goals and 25 assists as a sophomore, despite drawing significantly more attention from opposing defenses. Smith has been featured extensively on this site, but for whatever reason, it had been nearly a year since his last written evaluation.
Since then, all he has done is continue to elevate his stock event by event, cementing himself as one of the premier lefties — if not one of the very best players — in a class loaded with talented left-handed attackmen. Smith is incredibly fluid in every facet of the game, consistently beating his man off the dodge, off the catch, and as a feeder — an area of his game that flourished at NASG and one that I admittedly underestimated entering the summer. He’s advanced with his stick skills and lacrosse IQ, seemingly processing the game a step ahead of opposing defenses and consistently making the right read. He remains poised when slides come, rarely forcing the issue, and does an excellent job taking whatever the defense gives him. At this stage, it’s difficult to identify holes in his game, and he was simply a steady, productive presence at every stop this summer.

Smith is a tactical weapon. Nine times out of 10, you’ll find him on the elbow; however, he’ll mix up his shot angles to keep the defense on their toes. He’s known to throw in subtle fakes, absorb contact, and finish in tight windows. He makes smart off-ball movements and can silently take over a game. He’s a triple threat on the field with dodges, shots, and feeds that are next to perfect. Smith brings a physical presence sure to intimidate onlookers.

Size, skill, and scoring instinct are a walk in the park for Smith. Racking in many multi-goal games over the years, Smith has demonstrated smart cuts, great positioning, near-perfect angles from the X and wing positions, and an impressive talent for slipping past defenders for quick-stick finishes. He is known to deliver in tight games, carrying himself with confidence and poise. He keeps his head up on the field, makes quick decisions, and doesn’t plant his feet. Along with that, his stick skills are sharp and he has an extremely accurate release point. Being a left-handed player doesn’t hurt either.

Smith is a left-handed offensive player who likes his spot on the elbow. However, he can truly play at any location. He currently holds the freshman scoring record for Garden City. Despite his ability to fire one to the back of the net, Smith racks up assists as well. He showcased great qualities that I’m sure will take him far as an athlete and beyond. It is clear that Smith puts in the work outside of practice and has a passion for the sport, something that can’t be taught.

A 6’1” lefty attackman in the Class of 2028, Smith finished with a team-best 4 goals and 2 assists in the regional final. A regular contributor throughout the season, his line production has shown steady growth. He displayed both finishing touch and field vision under pressure. As a freshman who starts for Garden City’s varsity team, Smith should soon become a high-priority target for Division 1 colleges.

Smith was the breakout star of the game. The left-handed freshman displayed poise, power, and finishing ability well beyond his age. He scored three of his four goals in the second quarter, helping Garden City flip the momentum after a sluggish start. Smith showcased a smooth shooting stroke and high lacrosse IQ, often finding open space and converting feeds into goals. He’s already a key piece of Garden City’s offense and will be a major recruiting name in the coming years.

The lefty attackman played beyond his years, contributing two goals and two assists. Smith showed excellent chemistry with Asaro as well as a knack for getting to dangerous spots on the field. His poise and vision were impressive, especially against a tough Syosset defense.
