“Fiery, energetic, and poised” were the first notes I jotted down on Wehrheim at NHSLS in November—and he backed them up. He plays like a keeper with varsity experience because he has it, having started as an eighth grader for one of upstate New York’s more reputable programs. Just a shade under 6’0, he’s superb on low shots, flashing ridiculous reaction time as he reads and reacts. A hockey player as well, Wehrheim consistently showed his aggressiveness and athleticism outside the crease, proving he’s more than comfortable clearing the ball over the midline. Despite his youth, defenses play with confidence in front of him, and even when things broke down, he rose to the moment, robbing shooters in tight.
