Expert Analysis
Carey Smith | Prep Lacrosse Scout
Late last month, Valenti announced his commitment to Colgate. Valenti is a fantastic pickup for the Raiders, as he is a talented midfielder with an incredible combination of power and skills. This middie excels at muscling his way to the net on the fast break as well in settled action. His ability to absorb significant contact and numerous stick checks during his charges to the cage is impressive. When he eventually gets his hands free, Valenti can ping corners, score off hip or unleash a crafty bouncer while on the run. Valenti is a patient dodger too. He frequently will draw a slide or double team and then use his field vision to move the ball to an open teammate. Valenti has flashed the capacity to drop back and play SSDM at a respectable level too.

Valenti is a dominant two-way midfielder with the size, skill, and athleticism to excel at the highest levels of college lacrosse. Standing at 6’3” and 225 pounds, he combines power and speed with a high lacrosse IQ, making him a force in transition and a threat on both ends of the field. Valenti is a true dual-threat, capable of shooting with both hands and creating offense while also being a strong defensive presence. Despite missing a substantial amount of time due to injury, he remains an ACC, Big Ten, or Ivy League-caliber talent with the potential to make an immediate impact at the next level.

There’s a swagger about Valenti that I really like, and he’s got the game to warrant it. Quite frankly, I’m surprised that he’s still on the board. A big bodied-midfielder who is hard to stop when he’s charging downhill, Valenti has been a member of Pittsford’s varsity since he got his feet wet at that level as just a 7th grader. He’s combined for 59 goals over the past two seasons, so Valenti is as proven as any ’26 offensive player in Section V. For someone that size, he has excellent hands and wrists and often uses deception in his game, a byproduct of his time spent playing box. He shoots a heavy ball and can absolutely bang it from the outside, but because he’s so crafty and slick, he’s good for the occasional leaner and slick finish inside. I’m sure he’ll have his college destination locked in sooner rather than later.
