He already knows how to use his size to apply pressure, swallowing up dodgers with V-holds and crosschecks. After transferring from Pittsford (N.Y.) and reclassifying at Loomis, Osborne brings a résumé that already includes an All-Star selection at Showtime while competing in the '29 class. Against the Gold team, he delivered a huge, clean hit in transition—a theme that shows up throughout his highlights. His long strides let him cover ground quickly, and he finishes those approaches with hard stick and body checks.

Second, his stick is legit, and he's a threat in transition. He scored a highlight-worthy behind-the-back goal against the White team in the first game, and I remember watching him score in the Naptown Championship over the summer, too. Marschner wants to push the tempo, and once he gets into the offensive end, he wants to stay until his coach calls him off.

I'd buy stock in the Hill School after seeing Alex Werrell at the face-off X and Finn Mofield in the cage—two dominant players in their '30 class. Wherever dodgers tried to go, he used his upper body to steer them away from dangerous areas. His crosscheck brought to mind recent UMD commit Noah Brown, especially when defending near the goal line and on the island. That strength carried through to his stick, too. Trying to get past it was like pushing on a door marked "pull." Dodgers weren't going anywhere—he shut off topside against lefties and underneath against righties. Bear was quick off the ground and showed enough offensive feel that it wouldn't surprise me to see him get some varsity reps at Landon next year. He scored off a rebound in the game I watched and did an excellent job drawing defenders before moving the ball. On one play, he collected another high rebound and stepped into a shooting motion, pulling multiple defenders toward him before dumping it inside to a wide-open Jeremy Julio for a slick twister dunk.

After a strong freshman season at Bolles, Juan Calero's transfer kept the Salisbury–Sweetlax Florida connection going. An athletic defenseman with a high defensive IQ, he stood out with his communication and off-ball positioning. He was loud and clear about his responsibilities and stayed active away from the ball, opening his hips to keep his man in view and his stick in position. His athleticism showed up in plenty of ways. Calero pressured out, got his stick into passing lanes, and covered ground quickly to recover and close out on shooters. That range helped him erase advantages before offenses could capitalize. He was also confident off the ground and pushing into transition, looking comfortable with the ball and making smart decisions. Calero's athleticism allows him to land big takeaway checks. As he moves up in competition, I'd like to see him get more comfortable playing vanilla defense, trusting his feet and positioning without always hunting the takeaway.

Ty Xanders and I have covered plenty of ground from The Spotlight, last weekend's event for the class of 2030. If you missed any of our coverage, check out the links below.

I'd buy stock in the Hill School after seeing Alex Werrell at the face-off X and Finn Mofield in the cage—two dominant players in their '30 class. I'd heard Mofield was an impact player on the '29 Sweetlax Florida team, and it's easy to see why. The transfer from the Community School of Naples (Fla.) already looks polished. He's big enough to take up cage, athletic enough to dazzle with pipe-to-pipe saves, and comfortable coming out to play in a 10-man ride.

From serving as an eighth-grade captain on St. Albans' JV team to playing for Next Level, one of the nation's best 2030 clubs, Bear looks comfortable against top competition. At The Spotlight, he made stops on defense, made plays between the lines, and helped create scoring opportunities at the other end.

His strength stood out most on defense. Wherever dodgers tried to go, he used his upper body to steer them away from dangerous areas. His crosscheck brought to mind recent UMD commit Noah Brown, especially when defending near the goal line and on the island. That strength carried through to his stick, too.
