A Lakes Region product with exceptional toughness and physicality, Maloney knows how to time his checks like a college player already. The best part is that he does so so naturally that it looks almost casual. He can poke the ball free on the perimeter as easily as he snaps a stick out of an attackman’s hand with a perfect back check. If you show Maloney any weakness, he will exploit it, especially in a 1v1 scenario. He’s a big part of KUA’s defense this spring and should be on the radar of teams that are looking for technical defenders who are averse to gambling on big checks.
