An All-CHSAA performer as a sophomore, Sykes was highly impressive each time I watched Iona Prep this spring. With opposing defenses often focused on the two D1-bound seniors on his attack unit, the savvy and hard-charging lefty consistently found ways to get underneath the defense or lose his man away from the ball before finishing appropriately. A tough, physical competitor, Sykes can score from low angles and while under duress, making him a reliable target around the cage while also generating plenty of zip on his shots. He wasn’t asked to shoulder much of a dodging role in 2026, but there’s little doubt that he’s capable of doing so and should look to build confidence in that area, particularly as he becomes more of a focal point for defenses with his former linemates headed to UNC and High Point.
