Playing for Team CONNY at the NB All-America event, I was surprised to see that Grant Southworth was not committed. Don’t let his size fool you — he has plenty of skill and is very effective as a smaller, quicker, shiftier attackman that slower defenders will have a tough time handling. He has the change of direction and bouncy re-dodges to inevitably get his hands free for shots or feeds. On one of the goals I saw him score, he shook his defender and got right to the doorstep for a dunk. The other came in transition, when he caught, loaded, and hit his spot in an instant. In the spring, he played the inside well, cutting to the ball at the right times and finishing with quick wrists.
