Five Uncommitted 2027s Who Stood Out at Regional All-Star Games

Prep Lacrosse was on site for both the New Balance All-America event and the Nike National All-Star Games, which provided two different ways to evaluate Class of 2027 talent. New Balance had uncommitted 2027s playing with their committed teammates, while Nike split committed and uncommitted players into separate teams for the first time. Each format had its own positives and negatives, but these five uncommitted 2027s stood out to me across the two events.    If I were a college coach and needed another offensive midfielder, Reeves would be at the top of my list. He checks all the boxes you want in a potential future contributor. He has the size, physicality, dodging ability, and goal-scoring punch to make an impact. In the game I watched, he scored a hat trick. One goal came off a right-to-left split dodge where he put on the brakes and shot. The second came off a re-dodge, and the third came off a stepdown. Those goals show his game well. His size makes it easy for him to get his hands free, and he can bring the heat on the run and with his feet set.     Quincy Marino, an incoming Avon Old Farms postgrad from La Salle Academy, has all the skills and accolades that show he is ready for the next level. A two-way threat who dominated Rhode Island lacrosse, he earned multiple Player of the Year and All-America honors and led the state in points the last two years. He is a certified gamer who gets it done in a lot of ways. Off the dodge, he can create for himself and shoot with both hands. He scanned the field exceptionally well at the NB All-America event, where he quick-sticked a couple of passes to attack rotations. Coaches can even put him on the wings on face-offs to battle for groundballs or throw him on defense, and he will find ways to make an impact.     Playing for Team CONNY at the NB All-America event, I was surprised to see that Grant Southworth was not committed. Don't let his size fool you — he has plenty of skill and is very effective as a smaller, quicker, shiftier attackman that slower defenders will have a tough time handling. He has the change of direction and bouncy re-dodges to inevitably get his hands free for shots or feeds. On one of the goals I saw him score, he shook his defender and got right to the doorstep for a dunk. The other came in transition, when he caught, loaded, and hit his spot in an instant. In the spring, he played the inside well, cutting to the ball at the right times and finishing with quick wrists.     One of my first impressions of Manary came when he was quarterbacking a midfielder in the clear. He identified a two-on-one on one side of the field and looked to push in transition. His ability to pick up ground balls, handle the ball, and make smart decisions held throughout the game. On the defensive end, he looks fundamentally sound on the ball, with clean approaches, a confrontational stick to the hands, and hard cross-checks to knock dodgers off their paths. When the ball swung, he bungeed into the hole, opened his hips to help off-ball, and put himself in position for more fundamentally sound approaches.     Ryan Hagedorn absolutely dominated in the uncommitted championship games at the Nike Nationals, where I had him down for 10/15. Off the whistle, his hand speed is obvious, but what comes after that is what will keep him competitive at the next level. When he goes to pop the ball out after his clamp, he has great control of where he puts it in relation to where his opponents were stepping. If he does't win the clamp, his shovel counter got him the win. His quickness shows up when he needs to outrun opponents to 50/50 groundballs and running away from pressure. His stick looked reliable and he was willing to use his off hand.
