National ASG 2028s: Offensive Weapons Who Finished Strong, Part 2

Today, it's time for Part II of our look at some offensive players who closed out the summer circuit by making their presence felt at the National All-Star Games, <a href="https://preplacrosse.com/2026/07/national-asg-2028s-offensive-weapons-who-finished-strong/">a follow-up to yesterday's piece</a>. I really appreciated how Brotherton asserted himself as a complementary player during Midwest's championship run and did just about everything that was asked of him, serving as a key role player on offense and even taking some runs at d-middie, if I'm not mistaken. He's an energetic initiator who goes hard at all times, winning his matchups or creating opportunities for himself for a sneaky and well-timed cut. Brotherton excelled in transition but didn't force anything, always playing within himself and making the right decisions with and without the ball. There was nothing flashy about his game, just considerable substance, and teams don't win without selfless and intelligent players like Brotherton.     In my opinion, Gray has one of the highest upsides among 2028s on Long Island and is just scratching the surface of what he's capable of. A savvy attack/middie, he showed off his smooth playmaking ability at the National All-Star Games, posting two goals in the second game that I caught and continuing to produce throughout the weekend. The younger brother of former Notre Dame national champion Reilly Gray, he has a really strong understanding of spacing and off-ball play, knowing how to create scoring opportunities for himself off the catch. Favoring a three-quarters or a straight over-the-top release, his shooting stroke is a thing of beauty, and he's a marksman with his shot. In addition, Gray is adept at making his way through traffic, protecting his stick, then scoring through contact, something he did on a handful of occasions at NASG.     Quite frankly, it's pretty wild that we're just now writing up Neidig, considering how excellent he was over the past six weeks. A pure goal-scorer from Strong Island, he put an exclamation point on his summer campaign with a rock-solid outing at NASG for a squad that featured several familiar faces from his Express Chucks team and a loaded 91 LI group. Per usual, Neidig scored some big-time goals, namely the game-winner in a comeback over Pacific Southwest on Sunday. This summer, he took advantage of being surrounded by two elite attackmen that deserve extra attention from defenses, putting himself in a position to benefit while showing off his slick finishing ability and knack as a mid-range sniper. He also made the extra pass and was often the recipient of the same, catching everything inside with his silky mitts and throwing multiple fakes before putting shots where goalies aren't. Pair him with a top-notch feeder, and he'll fill up a stat sheet, as he did this past weekend in Edgewood.     After having a ton of success at the start of his career at Marblehead (Mass.), Sullivan transferred to Govs and became increasingly comfortable as his sophomore year progressed. Highly skilled, opportunistic, and savvy, he constantly put himself at the end of plays by keeping his feet moving without the ball or by simply winning his matchups topside. Watching Sullivan for the first time in person this past weekend (after liking what I saw on live streams this spring), I was impressed with his handle and ability as a shooter, particularly from the wings. Staying shot-ready, he has the confidence and precise shooting skills to hammer it from low angles. He consistently took advantage of shortstick matchups and made key plays for a Team New England squad that lacked an alpha, and stepped up to create his shot, getting up the hash on dodges from X or getting a step when initiating from the righty wing.     When discussing Szabo, a two-time All-State pick, it all starts with his ability to win matchups through his athleticism. It comes as no surprise that he's also a talented quarterback who's drawn the attention of our PRZ Ohio scouts, and he could certainly have a future on the gridiron. He made a statement by posting two goals and an assist in a huge semifinal win over Jersey, getting the scoring going right off the bat when he chugged hard downhill, and no slide came, for whatever reason. Throughout the weekend, he tallied on more downhill dodges and splits, sweeps across the top, and on stepdowns, adding some assists as well, including a helper in the championship game. Overall, he got to his spots and was just a bear to handle when he put his foot in the ground or dodged with a full head of steam.
