Expert Analysis
Carey Smith | Prep Lacrosse Scout
Over the weekend, the No. 75-ranked prospect in our Class of 2028 rankings gave his verbal commitment to the University of Pennsylvania. Chari is a lefty goalie who possesses ridiculously swift reflexes, textbook technique, and poise beyond his years. Chari is incredibly skilled at denying scoring chances around the crease area. His patience, agility, and quick-twitch skills are the keys to his ability to make saves on those close-in attempts. Chari also does a fantastic job of tracking perimeter shooters and then using his active stick to make a clean save. This junior is well schooled in cutting down shooting angles and then popping off his line, too. Once Chari has possession of the ball, he can fire wisely placed and accurate outlet passes. Chari also owns enough athleticism to leg the ball out himself.

Read EvaluationTy Xanders | Prep Lacrosse Scout
This Marietta (Ga.) native plays with the kind of energy and confidence you love to see from young goalkeepers. A rare freshman starter for the Little Hoyas, he handled the highs and lows that come with such a demanding role in one of the nation’s top private school leagues, and he’ll inevitably take a huge step forward as a sophomore. Chari—whose brother is a sophomore at Georgetown—is wildly athletic and reactive, yet always under control and disciplined. Part of a strong one-two goalie punch for Thunder, he has a knack for making saves he seemingly has no business making. His athleticism also makes him a major asset outside the crease, and he could probably afford to be even more aggressive than he already is.
