Having already watched Behrens three times this spring— in addition to seeing Princeton’s top athletes deployed in its SSDM unit—it’s easy to envision him becoming a key part of the Tigers’ rotation in a few years. A high-level athlete and relentless competitor who is coming off a breakthrough sophomore year, it’s beyond evident that Behrens has leveled up. In addition to being a lockdown defender in his role as a shortstick, his offensive prowess and athleticism make it necessary for opponents to account for him whenever he’s on that side of the field. Over the past two weeks, he didn’t seem to get beaten, preventing dodging midfielders from getting their hands free and thriving in coverage when behind the goal. Behrens clears it at an exceptional level and plays under control with the ball in his stick, never forcing anything. He’s hugely critical to the Little Hoyas’ success this year, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him step into an even bigger role as the spring progresses.

A true two-way force, Behrens has quickly established himself as one of the top midfielders in the 2027 class. On the offensive end, he blends strength, speed, and sharp change-of-direction to consistently generate separation. His step-down shot is heavy and accurate, and he can vary his release points to keep goalies off balance.Where Behrens really separates himself is on the defensive side. Earning time as a short-stick defensive middie for Georgetown Prep as just a sophomore speaks volumes to his ability. He plays with quick feet and a physical edge, jamming dodgers and cutting off their preferred lanes. That combination of offensive firepower and defensive toughness makes Behrens one of the most valuable— and versatile— midfielders in the DMV.
