Iliescu is a fleet footed and physical pole with an active stick. That trifecta combined with his aggressive style of play makes Iliescu a menacing on-ball defender. Out on the perimeter Iliescu can relentlessly pursue ball carriers while applying pressure on their hands the entire time. He also does an incredible job of getting into offensive players early in their dodge and throwing them off their intended path. Iliescu is a master at well-timed overhead checks too. Iliescu is a high IQ, fundamentally sound defensive prospect. Therefore, he will not take gamble for takeaways and lose leverage / positioning on ball carriers. As a compliment to his defensive skills, Iliescu is a ground ball vacuum who can scoop and go in a flash. On the fast break, Iliescu is a threat to shoot on distribute on the run.
