Dougherty was a big reason why Kingsway was able to claw their way back into the game and make a second half run. He finished with a hat trick and scored one of the two Kingsway goals in the first half, staying alert on the crease and utilizing his fast hands to grab the loose ball and and cashed in an easy one. The LIU commit also showcased his range on a man-up opportunity with a low-to-high rip in the third to start the Kingsway run. He does a good job of using his strength to engage his defender and knock them off-balance to create space and proved on his final goal that he doesn’t need much of an angle to be effective. The South Shore product is currently leading his team in goals (32) and can do damage both inside and from range with a quick release on his shot and with a ton of power.

Dougherty played a crucial part in the Dragons deep playoff run last spring, finishing with 63 goals and 12 assists, with a pair of goals coming in the South Jersey Group 4 final round vs. Southern. He is a crafty dodger from his lefty attack spot, showing the ability to fight to the middle or get underneath his defender for a high percentage look. The LIU commit displays great change of direction and a burst of speed on his dodges, favoring sweeps across the top of the defense to get his hands free. He doesn’t need much space to operate and has good power and a quick shot release to sting corners. What he lacks in size, he makes up for with his speed and toughness, never afraid to take the ball into the teeth of the defense for a quality look.

Dougherty recently committed to Long Island University and this lefty offensive prospect is a fantastic addition by the Sharks coaching staff. Dougherty is a highly decorated 2027 with a well-rounded skill set. Last season Dougherty was a 1^st Team South Jersey ILL All-Conference selection as well as a 3^rd Team All-State honoree. Additionally, this lefty has already recorded over 100 goals in his varsity career. Dougherty does the bulk of his scoring damage by initiating from the wing or up top and then changing directions multiple times until his hands are free for a rip. His ability to stop on a dime and roll back to his left hand is especially impressive. But Dougherty can create scoring chances off-ball too. His well-timed sweeps and cuts lead to frequent catch and shoot opportunities around the crease. Dougherty has also demonstrated a unique skill for catching the rock in traffic, and then slipping underneath defenders or between double teams for finishes in close.
