Mason McLay put on a show with Westward Elite at the Buku SoCal Kickoff a couple of weekends ago. He was truly getting to his spots with ease. I was also a fan of his shot placement, and how assertive he was. He finished with 6 goals in total in the game I watched. Considering his size and scoring prowess, college coaches may want to check him out this summer.

Mason McClay was one of the top offensive players for the Pirates this season. He has a deceptive element to his game and uses his instincts well to get to his spots. He also has a variety of moves in his bag that help him create separation and get his hands free. Once he gets a look, he can bury shots both low and high depending on where he needs to place them. McClay is a player who looks poised to catch the attention of college programs soon, as he certainly passes the eye test. He is also set to compete in the Nevada High School Lacrosse All-Star Game next week.

rattled off one goal after another for the Pirates last night in their win. The junior attackmen had goals in transition, scored from long range, and he was getting to the middle of the field on his dodges. His pace helped him elude defenders and he also put some heat on his shots. All in all, it was good to him be assertive out there when he had the rock.
