Last week, we unveiled the first edition of Maryland's Class of 2027 state rankings and Watchlist, following our pre-9/1 national Top 100 release, which featured 11 players from the Free State. The next day, I highlighted five MIAA standouts that look poised to ascend in the next edition of the Top 50, and today, it's time to put the spotlight on players from the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference's Maryland-based programs.

DeMatha put the DMV on notice this past season by capturing the WCAC championship for the first time since 2009, and though the Stags were loaded with seniors, Grace was a critical part of the offense as just a sophomore. Racking up 31 goals and 27 assists to earn All-WCAC honors, the Howard County native took advantage of his opportunities and often served as the beneficiary of his teammates' dodging to constantly find himself at the end of plays. With a strong catch radius, he's a tall target inside who showed excellent hands and wrists and the ability to finish both appropriately and with flair. Grace does a great job burying stepdowns but can also get up the hash at a high rate, and though he isn't a burner by any means, he knows how to free up his hands for quality looks and possesses underrated vision.

Based on what I've seen from James up to this point (along with his spring production, which speaks for itself), he's one of the Mid-Atlantic's best offensive players still on the board. James, a lefty, is a two-time All-WCAC attackman and a middie for Next Level, so he's dangerous as an invert weapon. Opportunistic, highly skilled, and proficient in the two-man game, he does a really nice job of creating off the re-dodge and taking advantage of less-then-stellar approaches. He's great at setting up his dodges and has a nice little hitch move to free up his hands. Going forward, I'd love to see him make strides with his right hand and handling contact, but overall, there's a lot to like.

Simply put, Jameson is an electric factory. A dynamic athlete who plays the position with passion and nonstop intensity, he clearly takes pride in his work out of the crease, making his presence felt through diving run-out wins and frequent clears over the midline. His NHSLS highlights show him throwing his body around, clearing the ball upfield and scoring against McDonogh, and taking more shots against a Western opponent. His hustle off the charts and his team clearly feeds off his energetic playmaking. In 2025, Ryken turned heads by beating St. John's in OT and ultimately advancing it to the WCAC championship, with Jameson responsible for saving 66.7% of the shots that came his way. As a ball-stopper, he plays angles impeccably well and moves deftly pipe-to-pipe, showing an explosive top hand and excellent footwork. Last month, Jameson committed to Jacksonville, and the Dolphins landed a promising goalie prospect who doesn't even play club ball, making him a diamond-in-the-rough down in southern Maryland.

Big, physical, and disruptive, Sinclair looks primed to become one of the best defenders in the DMV as a junior. He sets the tone with his physicality, laying big (and clean) hits on unsuspecting ball-carriers and doing a terrific job of closing out on shots. He's dialed in both on-ball and off-ball, constantly putting himself in the right spots and excelling at making sure his teammates are in the right spots as well. In addition, Sinclair's brute force and defensive IQ allow him to guide his matchup away from high percentage scoring areas, and it's evident that he has a knack for frustrating his opponent. When the ball is on the ground, he's getting it up off the carpet on the first scoop and has the skills to clear the ball upfield. Delaware has thrived with their defensive recruiting over the past few cycles, and Sinclair looks like a future cornerstone.

Cornell clearly had Spahr on its list of priority recruits, landing him less than a week into September. The upside is clear — he's a big lefty who can shoot from range and help create offense from a variety of spots, as he's proven himself at attack in the spring and midfield during the club seasons. As a sophomore, Spahr went off for 25 goals and 21 assists, doing an excellent job of nailing shots from the right hash with his feet set while building confidence as a dodger and feeder. Part of a promising youth movement for the Falcons a year ago, he can score under duress but also find cutters with nasty skip passes. Because of his size and how well he moves his 6'3 frame around, Spahr's tough for defenders to get their hands on and can draw slides with regularity. The Big Red coaching staff has always done an excellent job identifying prospects whose best lacrosse is ahead of them, and Spahr fits that mold, so I'm excited to see where he takes his game.
