At the Sweetlax Summer Challenge, Diego Salinas made a big-time slide that caused a turnover in overtime against Legacy, and that play has stayed with me. Since then, I have come to appreciate the many layers to his game. The athletic lefty has made plays both on and off the ball on defense this summer. At NAL, he matched up well with one of the top midfielders in the class in the first round of the playoffs, and he showed his ability to close out with quick, controlled approaches in the championship against the West Coast Starz. His comfort with his pole shows up in every part of his game. He is aggressive on hands in matchups, quick to get his stick into passing lanes, and extremely comfortable with the ball in his stick.

A gifted athlete with a smooth, effortless style, Diego has quickly made his mark on the national stage after emerging from the Texas lacrosse scene. Playing for the Texas Stangs Elite, he has demonstrated advanced stick skills, strong instincts, and a natural feel for the game’s pace. His athleticism allows him to cover ground with ease and make plays in both directions, while his competitiveness and edge set him apart. Coaches rave about his intensity; he brings an attitude that can’t be taught, but every team needs. With his tools and drive, Diego has a tremendous upside and should translate seamlessly to the next level.
