2028s College Coaches Need to Scout This Fall

So far in September, there has been a heavy focus on the Class of 2027 as this is the opening month of the recruitment process for prospects in that graduation year.   But today I wanted to take a glimpse at the future and review a handful of 2028s who college coaches need to scout this fall.    Beymer is an athletic and technically sound pole who can impact every facet of the game. On defense, Beymer's speed and polished footwork enable him to pursue ball carriers on the perimeter. Beymer does a fantastic of getting into an offensive player early in his dodge and stopping that charge. He can also drop low and shut off an attackman on the crease or defend on-ball behind the net. When Beymer causes a turnover, he is quick to scoop up the GB and then push the fast break. Beymer has repeatedly proven that he is extremely comfortable operating in the offensive end. He is especially effective at drawing as slide and then moving the ball to the open teammate. Beymer is a plus player in the clearing game and on the face-off wing too.            This Swiss Army knife prospect can run at attack or midfield as well as SSDM. Jowdry is a transition phenom who will use his speed and shifty moves to go coast to coast. Once Jowdry has gotten into the offensive end, he can unleash rockets from distance or push the ball to the cage for a finish in close. In 6v6 action Jowdry can get downhill from anywhere on the field and then shoot or pass on the move. His understanding of how to set up and then use on-ball screens is impressive. Jowdry is also a terrific off-ball player who will smartly cut, slide, or drift into open space for a clean look. College coaches will love the quick release and accurate placement on Jowdry's shots. As a SSDM, Jowdry is a tenacious on-ball presence and a ground ball machine.                 Delfino is a standout multi-sport athlete (football too) who owns quick reflexes, impressive foot speed and a non-stop motor. On the lacrosse field, that trifecta combines with his textbook face off mechanics to create a dominating FOGO. Delfino's ability to win face offs cleanly allows him to race into the offensive end and create transition opportunities for his team. He is a threat to score or distribute on those fast breaks. Delfino also does a tremendous job of alternating his exit strategies to keep the opposing team guessing. His ability to adapt and execute counter moves is impressive too. Additionally, Delfino has proven that he possesses the stick skills to remain on the field during 6v6 action. During his freshman campaign, Delfino won 70% of his face offs and scored 17 goals.       Packard is a midfielder with a solid frame, a dynamic first step and serious shake. Thus, he can blow past his defender from up top or the wing and then crank on the run. With his accurate shot, Packard can score top shelf, off hip, and low. Packard is a high IQ prospect who will patiently carry the ball for an extended period until a high percentage opportunity for himself or a teammate presents itself.  He will not hesitate to re-dodge or change directions multiple times while in possession of the rock. Packard's noteworthy size enables him to absorb significant contact during these lengthy runs. His field vision and unselfish nature make Packard and excellent distributor. With his athleticism and tenacity, Packard can drop back and play SSDM at a high level.             With his deep bag of finishing moves, nasty shooting skills and crafty of ball movements Padelford is an attack who thrives around the net. Padelford has a real gift for moving into open space around the crease, receiving a pass, and then depositing the ball in the back of the net. He can score via over hands, sidearms or even BTBs. His use of head and stick fakes in close keeps opposing goalies guessing. Padelford has excellent field awareness, and his stick is always ready. So, when he catches the ball at GLE, it is game over for opposing goalies. Padelford's swift release and ability to rip from multiple angles are unique for a 2028 prospect. As a bonus to his individual skills, Padelford is a smooth operator in two-man game action.
