Midseason Big Board: Class of 2025 Goalies

The '25 goalie class has gotten better with age, with several highly capable netminders improving drastically and ascending the list since their recruiting summer more than two years ago.   Things can and will change between now and the unveiling of our final Class of 2025 rankings, but for now, here's a glimpse at Prep Lacrosse's Top 20 goalies in the country.   1. [player_tooltip player_id='14549' first='Aidan' last='Seibel'] | McDonogh (Md.) | Maryland Going wire-to-wire as the No. 1 goalie in the '25 class, Seibel has won a pair of MIAA championships and will look to help lift the Eagles to a third consecutive title later this month. As a senior, he's faced a lot of rubber after McDonogh graduated most of its defensive unit, and has helped cover up a lot of mistakes all spring. Tall, wiry, and unflappable in cage, Seibel has the propensity to make stellar back-to-back saves in tight on a regular basis and doesn't really get beat unless it's a great shot. He steals goals as much as any keeper in recent memory and plays with a ton of competitive energy, thriving both in and out of the crease. From a talent perspective, he's good enough to start as a freshman in College Park, however, with Brian Ruppel in front of him it's more likely that he'll redshirt, as many great Terp netminders have in the past. 2. Tade Wynn | Culver (Ind.) | Army Wynn checked in as the top-ranked goalie in the '24 class, but after tearing his ACL midway through his senior year, he was required to take a gap year before enrolling at West Point, where he'll be 21 as a freshman. As a goalie prospect, he's the total package with his combination of intangibles, size, athleticism, and hand speed. He's an explosive blocker who absorbs a ton of shots to his body, but catches balls cleanly with his stick, too. The Kansas City native's lateral movements and fundamentals are sound, and he's as steady as they come, allowing his defense to play with a ton of confidence at all times. He'll be a more than capable replacement now that All-American Sean Byrne has wrapped up his time in West Point.   3. [player_tooltip player_id='14532' first='Dash' last='Lamitie'] | Salisbury (Conn.) | Johns Hopkins The fact that Lamitie only checks in at No. 3 says more about Wynn and Seibel than it does about the New Hartford (N.Y.) native, who has been absolutely ridiculous as a senior for the Crimson Knights. He's every bit of a 5-star recruit and will contend for the Blue Jays' starting job from Day 1, likely providing some much-needed long-term stability to the unit. Taking up a ton of cage with his 6'4 frame, he's another habitual goal-stealer who is remarkable in tight and has a knack for making highlight reel-worthy saves look downright easy. Out of the cage, he throws pinpoint outlets and wins huge run-outs. Quite frankly, it's hard to spot a weakness, as he's cleaned up his game considerably since his recruiting summer and appears to be college-ready.   4. [player_tooltip player_id='14535' first='Josh' last='Marcus'] | Staples (Conn.) | North Carolina It's no coincidence that Staples has become a Connecticut power during Josh's time in between the pipes. Leading the Wreckers to two state titles, he's a flat-out winner who exudes confidence in net and seems to be all over everything, gobbling up low offerings and bounce shots, and seldom biting on multiple fakes. He plays on an arc and takes a lot of shots to his body, then gets the ball up and out in the clearing game. Most recently, he made 14 saves in a win over nationally ranked New Canaan and was excellent in a near-upset of Brunswick, and has helped propel Staples to a 10-2 record. With Michael Gianforcaro on his way out, Marcus will be expected to fight for the starting job upon his arrival in Chapel Hill.   5. [player_tooltip player_id='17957' first='Cam' last='Taylor'] | Salesianum (Del.) | Duke Endearing himself to recruiters two summers ago, Taylor is arguably the top athlete of the bunch and is on track to become a four-time state champ with the Sallies. The 6-foot-2 lefty is remarkably explosive between the pipes and has outstanding top hand speed, matching sticks on fakes to stymie would-be goal scorers in close. Because of his athletic ability, he's superb on groundballs and the clear, jump-starting transition with his outlets. Patrick Jamieson has locked down starting duties in Durham, however, Taylor's good enough to push him early on.   6.
