Expert Analysis
Eric Bretz | Prep Lacrosse Scout
Canton is a great communicator to his teammates on the defensive end and shows the ability to match his opponents stick in tight for big momentum shifts. He displays great core fundamentals as a goaltender and does a good job of using his body to deflect shots when slightly out of position or for an acrobatic save. The Moorestown, NJ native plays tough between the pipes with quick hands and steps to the ball with conviction. He is athletic and moves well laterally with good awareness and vision on the shots. After a save, he is quick to get the ball up and out for a transition chance with crispy passes and also stays patient if nothing is there and doesn’t get rattled easily with pressure applied. Considered one of the best goaltenders still uncommitted, I could see that changing soon.

Canton is a two-year varsity starter at Moorestown who is one of the most decorated 2027 goalies in New Jersey. He is a two-time 1st Team All- Olympic Conference selection as well as a two-time New Balance All-American. After the 2025 season, Canton garnered a 2nd Team All-State nod too. The first item that pops about Canton’s work in the cage is his attacking style. Canton does a tremendous job of cutting down shooting angles by aggressively coming off his line and stepping directly at shooters. When you combine that with his ability to track shooters, Canton is impossible to score on from the perimeter. His poise, fast hands and quick drops make it difficult to score on Canton in close too. Plus, Canton excels at keeping his defense connected with constant communication. On his clearing passes, Canton gets the ball out his stick rapidly and makes smart distribution decisions.
