About Nick
Expert Analysis
Eric Bretz | Prep Lacrosse Scout
Versatile in the ways he can beat you, Lagunowich is emerging as a star for the Cougars after finishing his sophomore season with 69 goals and 28 assists. He has good size and speed, and uses that to his advantage to either overpower his matchup or to blow right past him. He is a smooth dodger with good footwork and instincts and can work from anywhere on the field to be effective. The Notre Dame commit has a rocket for a shot and has shown the ability to stretch the defense with his power. He is a marksman when shooting and does not need much space to be productive. The 6-foot attackman can unload a hard shot from his hip and change planes to keep goaltenders guessing. He will be a big reason why Chatham has success if he can pick up where he left off last spring.

Dynamic scorer and creative capital generator — Nick Lagunowich blends clean technique with consistent conversion, producing measurable results every time the ball finds his stick. A returning US Lacrosse All-American (New Jersey – North), a rare accolade for a sophomore, he tallied 69 goals and 28 assists (97 points) in 2025, helping Chatham to a 15–6 campaign.
Nick started varsity as a freshman for the Cougars with 38 points (27 goals, 11 assists) while also adding 19 ground balls in 2024.
Lagunowich thrives in high-pressure moments, including a five-goal, six-point performance in a 12–13 loss to Delbarton (NJ) in the Morris County Tournament final. He does more than just score, serving as an aggressive presence in the ride and using quick restarts off the end line to attack while defenses are still catching their breath and reorganizing.
Blending East Coast precision with Midwestern poise, Lagunowich is a fundamentally clean finisher who manufactures his own production. Equal parts craftsman and closer, he brings measurable value every time the ball finds his stick.
Verbally committed to Notre Dame, Nick Lagunowich is the perfect fit to reinforce the Fighting Irish’s mix of efficiency and competitive edge, a formula that has powered recent national championship runs.

Lagunowich is one of the more proven scorers in the class, having registered a ridiculous 69-goal, 28-assist statline as a sophomore for the Cougars. He’s a dynamic dodger who consistently puts pressure on opposing defenses and can get to his spots more often than not, whether that’s been in the spring, on the club circuit, or in a showcase setting. Lagunowich was his usual self, scoring goals in a multitude of ways, riding the ball back several times, and showing off his shake, athleticism, and knack for scoring with flair. Watching him live for the first time since December, I was once again blown away by his ability as a shooter and how brilliantly he mixes up his release points and shot location – it’s advanced in every sense. Unfortunately, his summer circuit came to a screeching halt last week, with Lagunowich breaking his collarbone in an event after Showtime. However, coaches are sure to have seen enough, so I can’t imagine that his stock will take much of a hit, if at all.

Lagunowich was an absolute problem on Sunday, an outcome that was far from a surprise given the reputation he’s already built for himself. After all, he racked up 28 goals and 11 assists as a freshman then had a huge football season at wide receiver for the Cougars, earning a few writeups from Prep Redzone scouts in Jersey.
An explosive and elusive playmaker, Lagunowich made a habit out of gaining more than a stick’s length of separation against longpoles. Any attempt at playing the body or jarring the ball loose with a stick check fell short as he posted two goals and an assist in a big win over Sweetlax, serving as the straw that stirred the drink for BBL’s offense. The ball flies out of his stick, and his uncanny release was even more impressive in person than it was on his tape, which is full of low-to-high lasers with a vapor trail on them. It’s early, but Lagunowich seems destined to have his pick of the litter next fall, and it’d be fair to assume that Virginia will be in the mix given that his older brother JP is a first-year midfielder for the ‘Hoos.
