MadLax was founded in 1996 with an emphasis on fast, fun, and unselfish play. Connor Shellenberger, an alumnus from the program, went on to play attack at the University of Virginia and now plays in the PLL, proving that the culture MadLax builds is a positive one.

While players like [player_tooltip player_id='120561' first='Nate' last='Randles'], Jack Borg, and Cole Guckenberger have been well-covered in the past, these five are also worth a look:

Ackerly is a speedy, scrappy, smart, multi-sport athlete. He has the unique ability to read offenses, disrupt passing lanes, and force turnovers before the offense has the ability to settle the ball. He wins possessions in brawly situations, closes gaps quickly, and transitions from defense to offense with an explosive pace. His speed is his best attribute, in my opinion; his recovery and re-engagement are incredible because of it. Might I add, Ackerly also leads his team in ground balls.

LeLand is a rare triple-threat on the lacrosse field; attack, midfield, and face-off specialist. He's a balanced dodger, with smart off-ball movement, elite change of speed, and quick strikes. As a dominant X player, he facilitates offense with a loud vocal presence but is more than capable of scoring from anywhere on the turf.

Lateral movements to a T. Thrives under pressure. Receptive to feedback. This kid is everything a coach wants in a player. He has keen reaction time, great organizational skills (able to keep his team on task), and initiates transitions. With his positive reception to feedback and the want to learn and improve, I don't know what more you could ask for in an up-and-coming goalie.

For a player who focuses on playing attack and midfield, Love is exceptionally good at contributing to rides and defensive plays when needed. He leads by example and is incredibly tough to cover. With his stick in his left hand and his fast first step, you'd better keep an eye out for Love. He's accurate, crisp with passes in tight windows, and has a killer change-of-direction. Basically, he's ready to break anyone's ankles. Whether it be a fast break play or an unsettled situation, Love will do everything in his power to get the job done. I'd also like to point out that his release point is deceptive, making it challenging for a goalie to spot his target; however, I can tell you that he gravitates to the left wing.

Ambrose is a reliable short-stick defender. He is aggressive but clean with his plays, showcasing good separation and body control. With over nine years at MadLax Capital, Ambrose clearly has a will to improve, a strong work ethic, and a team-first mindset. Team captain is definitely in the cards for this one, as he takes control when necessary without being a ball hog. His calm, cool, and collected nature makes him a must-see in my book.
