Five-Star 2027s: Cross, Holbrough, Woods Headline the Top 100
With the Sept. 1 contact date just days away, Valor Christian (Colo.) attackman JT Cross has been named Prep Lacrosse's No. 1 overall recruit in the Class of 2027. The 6'3, 180-pound Colorado Kings and Mad Dog standout is a wildly dynamic and athletic presence, capable of quarterbacking an offense with elite vision while dodging and creating from virtually anywhere. Cross earned All-America status with 53 goals and 32 assists, then went on a tear this summer.
"His upside in college is so high because of his size, speed, and the amount of things he can do at an exceptional level," said one Division I coach. "He's got the straight line speed, and the height to see over a defense. He's able to pick the ball off the end line and get to the rack with either hand... If he's not starting at attack as a freshman, he could be your best midfielder."
Cross is closely followed by Berkshire (Mass.) attackman James Holbrough, a Rochester, N.Y. native who put on a show for Sweetlax this summer, while lefty Canadian scorer Riley Woods (Culver, Ind.) checks in at No. 3. Rounding out the top five are two more game-changers: Garden City (N.Y.) and Shore 2 Shore midfielder Anthony Asaro, along with IMG Academy (Fla.) and Prime Time goalie Moe Sobel, the headliner of an outstanding class of netminders.
On Wednesday night, we released a rundown of opinions from college coaches on how the Class of 2027 stacks up at each position. In addition, we've opened up a 25% discount code for the first payment using the code 'MIDNIGHT25' at checkout.
