Maryland High School Preview: Broadneck

Broadneck has reached the state championship game for the past three years, securing a win in 2023. They secured a win in 2023. Broadneck will look to play the same style of play that has served them well in past seasons. This includes running and gunning in transition and applying uncomfortable pressure on their opposition on defense.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Key Graduations</h2>   Broadneck's 2024 graduating class had many important pieces that contributed to their success. They will have a big hole to fill after graduating face-off specialist Graham Hartman (Mercer), who seemed almost automatic at the X during his career at Broadneck. The defensive side of the ball also has some big shoes to fill. The team lost shortstick defensive midfielder Eli Harris (Navy football), close defender Jed Pellicano (Christopher Newport), and goalie Matthew Tettemer (Anne Arundel CC). On the offensive side of the ball, the team will miss midfielder Braden McCassie (Jacksonville) and attackman Tyler Hicks (VMI). This year, Broadneck will look to senior midfielders [player_tooltip player_id='125919' first='Blake' last='Levicki'] and [player_tooltip player_id='125968' first='Brayden' last='Schmidt'] on offense. On defense, [player_tooltip player_id='82308' first='Wyatt' last='Shaw'], [player_tooltip player_id='125973' first='Christopher' last='Fraser'], and [player_tooltip player_id='120670' first='Braedon' last='Goloboski'] will be key contributors.    Levicki will be a key initiator for the Bruins' offense in 2025. During his career at Broadneck, he has been a talented shooter with his overhand release point. Look for him to increase his assists stats in his senior year. Teams will be quick to slide to him with his increased leadership. He will continue his career next year at Christopher Newport.     Schmidt is an offensive player that can do it all for the Bruins. With the ball, he will draw a lot of slides with his speed and dodging abilities. Off the ball, he's smart and will find those open spots in the defense. With his athleticism, he will find his way on the field quickly at Salisbury University in the fall.     Broadneck is lucky to have Wyatt locking down from the LSM position for another two years. Shaw is an all-around high IQ player who brings a lot to the table. His strengths are scooping ground balls, pushing transition, and being crafty with his takeaway checks. Shaw is a key contributor to the way Broadneck wants to pressure you and press it in transition.     The Bruins thrive on a high-pressure style of defense and Fraser fits this perfectly. He's a real takeaway defender who is not afraid to get physical and throw checks. Now that Jed Pellicano has graduated, he will take on the role of bruiser. Chris will play in college at Randolph-Macon after he graduates in 2026.     Goloboski is a true athlete between the pipes - this shines through in the way he handles the ball. When clearing, he throws the ball with a lot of zip. Last year, he went coast-to-coast and scored a goal in their playoff win against Annapolis. His athleticism served the Bruins well in their scrimmage vs. Fallston when they rolled out their 10-man ride. Overall, Goloboski thrives in and out of the crease.
