— headline the list after checking in as the state’s top three recruits (and Top 25 overall) in early September’s National Top 100 release. Five more juniors who play their high school ball in Maryland were included in the national rankings and are slotted in corresponding order within the state until the next national update later this year.
Please keep in mind that these state rankings are reserved exclusively for prospects who play high school ball in the state of Maryland, so MD natives at schools like St. John’s (D.C.) and Gonzaga (D.C.) will be ranked separately. Additionally, prospects set to graduate from high school this spring with plans to PG in 25-’26 were not included and will be ranked with the ’25s in next month’s release.
In the coming days, I’ll break down the top storylines and players from Maryland’s Top 40 and Watchlist, starting with Thursday’s post on the top uncommitted public school talent. Of the 90 players in this release, 39 juniors are currently uncommitted. As stated on our ‘How We Rank’ page, the rankings are a projection of someone’s future collegiate potential, not a reflection of their current ability.
Although top-flight attack prospects occupy the top three spots, this class of offensive recruits is relatively top-heavy for the time being. However, there’s bound to be plenty of movement as guys step into more substantial roles after being on crowded depth charts as sophomores. Right now, 18 of the Top 40 juniors in Maryland play on the defensive side of the ball, with seven longpoles ranked consecutively, which shows how little separation there is at the moment.
