<p>The Texas High School Lacrosse League acknowledged five State Champions in 2024: Episcopal School of Dallas 21-5 (AA), Kinkaid 12-10 (A), TMI Episcopal 19-2 (B), Plano 13-1 (C), & Hebron 11-3 (D). THSLL-AA (Runner Up): The Woodlands (12-6), along with other perennial powerhouse programs like Highland Park (16-4), Westlake (20-4), Dallas Jesuit (10-7), Lake Travis (13-5), Southlake Carroll (7-7), & Cypress-United (10-6) celebrated with winning cultures as the cream of the crop in the Lone Star State. Everything is bigger in Texas, including the pressure that builds to win the (THSLL-AA) State Championship. It is not uncommon for some of these bigger events to host thousands of fans in the crowd, giving off Friday Night Lights-esque vibes. When these major programs collide expect local lax fans to shut down the streets & create a festival or movie scene atmosphere to celebrate their legendary Championship teams!</p>

<p>Texas teams are annually divided into districts & classes based on the Elite 8 AA playoff bracket voted on by the committee. In 2024 we saw all top four seeded teams advance into the Final Four after hosting the first round of competition. The Fighting Scots earned the #1 top seed & defeated Southlake Carroll in a 10-4 convincing victory. Westlake earned the #2 seed & bested Cy-United by a larger margin with a score of 18-5. The Woodlands secured the #3 seed in the tournament & knocked out Lake Travis by a score of 15-7. The Episcopal School of Dallas was ranked as the #4 seed & battled with a tough Dallas Jesuit team eliminating them with a 13-9 final score. The Final Four in Texas got more entertaining with upsets on both sides of the bracket in 2024! The THSLL Final Four & Championship game(s) were played at a neutral site (Magnolia HS) in the greater Houston area. #4 ESD beat #1 Highland Park in a tight game 8-6. The Woodlands would later upend Westlake in a thrilling 12-11 game. The 2024 THSLL Championship stage was set on Saturday, May 12th where the #4 seeded Eagles took on the determined Highlanders as the #3 seed. The Episcopal School of Dallas eventually wore down the Woodlands en route to being crowned champions after a competitive contest with a final score of 12-10!</p>

<p>Historical Context since 2013; Dallas Jesuit leads the way with four total State Championships. The Rangers won back-to-back crowns in 2016 & 2017 before the shutdown season in 2020. Dallas Jesuit repeated twice as champions again post-covid in 2021 & 2022. Onward, the Episcopal School of Dallas has amalgamated three total State Titles. The Eagles won two before the pandemic in 2014 & 2019, then again most recently in 2024 as they are now the defending State Champions! Highland Park captured two State Titles 8 years apart in 2015 & 2023 respectively. Meanwhile, the Woodlands (2018) & St. Mark's (2013) each captured 1 State Championship a piece in the past decade or so...</p>

<p>An intriguing aspect to note about Texas Lacrosse is that the sport has not been sanctioned by the University Interscholastic League. The THSLL operates as the membership association for lacrosse at the high school level in Texas, defined as grades nine through twelve. There are currently 88 member school programs including 150 Varsity / Junior Varsity teams with upwards of 3,289 Lacrosse athletes across the State. The THSLL provides the environment for a positive experience & motivation for success.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Coleman Oby earned THSLL All-State as a Freshman (2023) & again as a Sophomore in 2024. He racked up 46 points with 38 goals & 8 assists. Coleman picked up 46 ground balls & forced 16 turnovers in 12 games on the field. He elevated his team to a record of 8-4 as a Sophomore. Oby is few & far between on the Lacrosse field. He is a dominating force in the sport with takeover capability. Coleman's athletic profile is unique with a blend of all the desirable characteristics. His game speed is at a premium as he is conditioned with A1 strength! Oby is truly a rare breed as a competitor who can compartmentalize & accept hard criticism because he wants to be coached to improve. He is a starting QB in Texas for Football & All-District DPOY in Basketball. Coleman has All-American potential with the sport of Lacrosse for the next two years in the THSLL. Look for Oby to continue his development within USA Lacrosse & have a pathway to a professional league. Verbally committed to Utah.</p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='63966' first='Ben' last='Boyer'] earned US All-American (TX: North) in addition to being named THSLL All-State in 2024. He has been selected by his teammates to be a Varsity Team Captain for the Fighting Scots. Ben is a diligent long-stick in the middle of the field who is focused & coachable to pick up team concepts quickly. He shows an uncanny ability to be the "Ghost" in the 10-man ride. Boyer is a major presence off the bat with his size & speed. He plays with fundamentals getting dodged down the hash. Ben will bait passes from X where he can check sticks with a dominant force. His motor & work ethic is evident as a defender who will finish games with technique. Boyer is the classic total package at LSM who can play close defense as well. He is incredible off the ground, great on the wing, & developing in the offensive game with a skill set that is off the charts. Ben makes good decisions with the ball & is credited with amazing stickwork. He is consistently covering space & reliable with off-ball play in the team defense. A consensus 4-star prospect. <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='48393' first='Kimo' last='Kouletsis'] earned US All-American (TX: South-Houston) for the second straight season in 2024. He is a multi-year Varsity Team Captain for the Highlanders who also earned THSLL All-State the past two seasons. Kimo posted 139 total points with 77 goals & 62 assists in 22 games (2023). Kouletsis compiled 83 points on 49 goals & 34 assists in 18 games as a freshman in 2022. He is an attacker with supreme speed & composure. Kimo keeps pace in his movements as he avoids running into slides or double teams with a built-in, elevated, lax IQ. He is unguardable with a short-stick defender match-up which makes him jet to be the initiator (B/L) or an effective pairing in a little-big. Kimo uses a quick release to fire off high-percentage shots accurately on the cage. He is an offensive juggernaut who is considered to be a top overall player in Texas. A consensus 4-star prospect. <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='127762' first='Caden' last='Frank'] earned US All-American (TX: Central) twice as an underclassman in 2023 & 2024. Additionally, he was named THSLL All-State as a sophomore & junior. Caden checks every box defensively & is feared on the ball as much as respected off of the ball. He is valuable on the wing where he constantly scoops up possessions with methodical ground ball play. Frank is a vertical target in the clear as he can leak down the field & sway games as a high-caliber offensive threat. He is a major factor when carrying the ball over the midline passing it off safely or pushing for a goal-scoring opportunity. Caden has a mega presence in the ride, where he covers ground North-South & East-West as well as anybody. He is magnificent at causing turnovers if opponents don't protect their stick & they show it in the open field. Frank is a takeaway artist who reigns over midfielders with a variety of checks including the ding-dong. He is one of the most impactful defenders & amongst the best overall lacrosse players in the Lone Star State. Caden is just plain good! A consensus 4-star prospect. <p>[player_tooltip player_id='16971' first='Josh' last='Logan'] earned THSLL Honorable Mention recognition as a midfielder for the Eagles with 74 points on 42 goals & 32 assists in 2024. He was named the Offensive MVP of the THSLL-AA State Championship game as a sophomore in a winning effort! Josh is a starting varsity football & basketball player who has been running 1st line midfield at ESD since freshman year. He is a gifted athlete who has the potential to develop into an unbelievable lacrosse player as he fills out over the next two seasons. Logan is about as dynamic as it gets with the ball in his stick. His aptitude on the field was noticeable after spring break (2024) when he figured out his lacrosse center parts & was increasingly ready to roll down the stretch. Josh has an eccentric bounce in his step & he is a sniper with a deadeye shot to score. A consensus top-100 player in his class with room to grow into a five-star prospect. Verbally committed to Virginia.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Asher Pressnall earned US All-American (TX: South-Houston) in 2024. He won 268/377 draws (71%), scooped up 166 ground balls & recorded 10 caused turnovers as a junior. Asher has competed in the past two State Championship games with the Highlanders in 2023 & 2024 while earning THSLL All-State in both seasons. He was named All-District as a freshman in 2022. Pressnall is acclimated to exercising control against national competition as he was able to corral the game-winning draw against Garden City (NY) in 2023. He is athletic & rotates well off the whistle with his initial clamp. Asher uses his quickness to make a play on the ball giving him an advantage as he scrapes his knuckles on the turf to secure a possession. He wins most of his draws to himself with the propensity to exit forward, backward, or side to side. Pressnall does a great job popping it to a wing by design or hustling after the 50/50 loose ball & slapping it to a teammate to pick up safely. He is a raw talent who is as appealing as any draw player who can play offense & get back to dig in on defense. Verbally committed to Denver.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Parker Addison earned US All-American (TX: North) & THSLL All-State as a junior in 2024. He earned THSLL All-District in 2023 putting up 66 points with 40 goals & 26 assists in a productive sophomore season for the 2023 AA State Champions. Parker is a Team Offense MVP candidate who has drawn the opponent's #1 defender since his sophomore year. He is best as a dodger from X who finds a way to get to the goal as he has a great feel for creating his shot. Addison is one of the best offensive players in the state who can go right or left, pass or score, & make good decisions with the ball up top or down low behind the goal. He is credited with having a great lacrosse IQ & becoming a much better passer in adding that into his game as opposed to just a talented dodger & goal scorer. Look for Parker to bounce back with a loaded Highland Park Team in 2025 as a marked man in Texas. Verbally committed to Jacksonville.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='64494' first='Jack' last='D'Spain'] earned THSAA All-State twice (2023 & 2024) in addition to being named a US All-American (TX: North) as a junior in 2024. He recorded 41 ground balls, 29 caused turnovers, & 2 assists as a sophomore in 2023. Jack is a viable hefty lefty who is tall, burly built, with broad shoulders. He is an admirable runner who contains his man within his wingspan as he matches feet & applies pressure on the ball. D'Spain is balanced & disciplined in his stance while running the rails from X. He can lay the smackdown as a center defender who shows good instincts to help, slide, or blindside double. Jack is quick to get the ball off of the ground using his speed & long strides to carry the ball in the clear over the midfield line. He is disruptive in passing lanes where he uses his range to widen out adjacent support for the ball carrier. Jack has a lot of potential upside in his development at the next level. He is a sleeping giant as a 3-star prospect! Verbally committed to Denver.</p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='16966' first='Max' last='Bushaw'] earned THSLL Honorable Mention recognition in 2024. He is a special one who operates on a different level than what most are accustomed to. Max is a dual-sport athlete who is also big-time on the football field. He had a terrific freshman spring in 2023 starting at Attack & made a noticeable jump as a sophomore in 2024. Bushaw is an ideal player in a positionless offense. He is an extremely smart player in the sense that he can combine different aspects of play within any system. Max is developing into an alpha initiator & possesses the leadership components to make others around him better. He understands his place in the game, showing the willingness to become a role player who catches & finishes! Bushaw is elusive with the ball in his stick & will bring the heat with either hand. He is a prolific scorer inside-out who will make the extra pass, assisting teammates who are in a better position to score. A consensus 4-star prospect & top-100 player in his class. Verbally committed to Notre Dame.</p>

<p>Steele Croom earned THSLL All-State in 2024 with the Woodlands. He is a wonderful leader & sound communicator who has been staring down shooters since his freshman year in 2022. Steele's game is ice-cold as he has been a consistent performer for the Highlanders who have lost in the THSLL State Championship the past two seasons (2023 & 2024). He went 61% with a 7.05 Goals Against Average in 2023 as a sophomore. Croom is considered amongst the best ball stoppers in Texas 1 for 1. He is cool, calm, & collected with pop in his game. He played his first two varsity seasons with Allen where he started both years & was selected to the THSLL All-District team in 2023. Caleb went 248/317 (78.23%) on the draw as a junior. He collected 190 ground balls while adding 4 goals & 2 assists in 2024. Caldwell wins at such a dominant rate (22/22 vs St. Marks & 24/25 vs ESD) he can force opponents into a punt defense where they have to counterforce him back and jump into a 10-man ride. His athletic profile is big, strong, fast & he is a natural left-handed player. <p>Paxton Smith earned THSLL All-State in 2024 with the Fighting Scots. He is a multi-sport athlete who also stars on the 6A football team! Paxton was named the Offensive MVP for Highland Park when he helped them win the AA State Championship in 2023. He posted 47 points with 32 goals & 15 assists through the midfield as a sophomore. Smith has been handling his business on the perimeter & hitting the mid-range step-down since freshman year in 2022. He had his best shooting season yet last year as a junior. Wilsey has been contributing to the Cavaliers since they captured the Class A State Championship in 2022. He is a stud who is considered one of the best poles in Austin. Zack has the bona fide stick work to get every ground ball & push transition! He should be treated like a short stick on the offensive side of the field. Wilsey is a substantial threat with the ball in his stick as he can shoot to score & is an even better passer. He is occasionally instructed to stay & play to manipulate match-ups in the invert. Brown is automatic in the unsettled offense as a sharp shooting finisher. He is most definitely an attacker to keep your eye on in the 2027 class!</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Nicholas Pacitti earned THSLL All-State in 2024 & All-District in 2023. He has magnificent hands on the draw & puts on a clinic against the best competition. Nicholas rolled throughout the regular season in 2024 & helped lead the Chaparrals to another successful season as a junior. It is not the size of the dog that is in the fight but the size of the fight that is in the dog! Pacitti is an underdog who rises against the odds! He scraps & fights his way over the ball using a low center of gravity to pick up possessions. Nicholas is a tough athlete who can win a box out over the top of the ball & is slippery through the chaos. He implements numerous moves from his bag of tricks & provides a steady dose of possession time for the team. Pacitti can pinch & pop forward, he will reverse the clamp to exit backward, or he will plunge the ball into space where he can use his speed to scoop up the ball. He knows how to use his wings & will hockey pass the ball to his teammate if he is outnumbered in pursuit. Nicholas is a natural stick handler who is an impressive passer from the face-off X. If he gets hot down the stretch look for Westlake to have a chance to crack into the THSLL championship game & win in 2025. Pacitti has the makings of an impact specialist in the NCAA.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Hudsen Young ran on the second-line midfield & performed well despite an injury down the stretch. He did not play in the majority of the action for the AA State Championship Eagles but Hudsen finished his freshman year scoring in some big moments totaling 20 points (16 goals, 4 assists) & adding 9 ground balls as the fourth midfielder on the depth chart. This year when you see him on film you might ask "Where did he come from"? Young is 100% what you think of when you hear about an athletic Texas midfielder. He has an extra gear of speed where no one can catch him. Hudsen is a downhill dodger that many defenders shy away from hitting. He carries over an unstoppable mindset from the football field where he is a running back. Young has a heavy shot from the outside & isn't afraid to take space cutting for the left-handed attacker. He carries himself like a veteran on the field & could make a major jump in 2025. Look for Hudsen to transform into a high-end Lacrosse prospect over the next three seasons!</p>

The Texas High School Lacrosse League acknowledged five State Champions in 2024: Episcopal School of Dallas 21-5 (AA), Kinkaid 12-10 (A), TMI Episcopal 19-2 (B), Plano 13-1 (C), & Hebron 11-3 (D). THSLL-AA (Runner Up): The Woodlands (12-6), along with other perennial powerhouse programs like Highland Park (16-4), Westlake (20-4), Dallas Jesuit (10-7), Lake Travis (13-5), Southlake Carroll (7-7), & Cypress-United (10-6) celebrated with winning cultures as the cream of the crop in the Lone Star State. Everything is bigger in Texas, including the pressure that builds to win the (THSLL-AA) State Championship. It is not uncommon for some of these bigger events to host thousands of fans in the crowd, giving off Friday Night Lights-esque vibes. When these major programs collide expect local lax fans to shut down the streets & create a festival or movie scene atmosphere to celebrate their legendary Championship teams!
