As we begin to hit the middle of the season, let’s take a look at some of the young players who have broken through and contributed heavily to their respective teams this spring.
Kaiden Sullivan
Kaiden Sullivan
Sullivan has consistently looked like one of the most confident and comfortable players in the state this spring. One of the top offensive weapons for St. Xavier, the 6-foot-1 attackman always has his stick in the box and ready to make a play as a dodger, passer, or shooter. He has great vision and passing skills that allow him to be a solid distributor. He also has one heck of a shot and possesses some range as well. His best attribute, however, might be his off-ball play as he moves very well without the ball and always know how to get into the right position for an open look.
Max Mullikin
Max Mullikin
The younger brother of current Robert Morris freshman Tommy Mullikin, the freshman has already shown to be a goal-scorer just like his brother. The younger Mullikin has netted 30 goals and dished out 21 assists for 51 points to lead the Spartans in scoring. The attackman showcases a decent amount of speed and quickness as a dodger that allows him to get downhill and beat his man. Mullikin has a good shooting stroke and a decent amount of range, being able to hit from nearly anywhere on the field. Maybe the most complementary thing about his game is his ability to fight through contact.
Logan Huelsman
Logan Huelsman
Huelsman might be the best player to ever come out of Shelby County. He churned out an 84-goal, 123-point freshman campaign in 2023 and has only kept the pace as a sophomore, scoring 54 goals and dishing out 25 assists for 79 points through nine games. The 5-foot-10 lefty attackman is very comfortable operating from that left side of the field. He possesses a fairly well-rounded skillset as he can sling to from the outside and create opportunities for himself in tight. Good vision aids him as a feeder, as well.
Ephraim Turner
Ephraim Turner
A swiss army knife type player for the Jaguars, Turner contributes offensively and defensively while also being his team’s top faceoff man. He has allied 24 points (14G/10A) through this point in the season while also going 56% at the faceoff dot. He has also grabbed 66 ground balls and caused 19 turnovers. Turner is not afraid of use his body and physicality to beat his man and get looks in the heart of the defense.
Greyson Hodge
Greyson Hodge
Woodford County is off to a historic 8-0 start to the 2024 season. Many young bucks have been heavy contributors the strong start from the Yellowjackets. One of the best has been attackman Greyson Hodge. A dual-sport athlete who also plays quarterback in football, Hodge has the athletic attributes with good speed, agility, and physicality. While he is able to and will score the ball, his best attribute is as a passer. He has good field vision and throws crisp passes that allow him to be a great feeder.
