<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>After finishing last season with a 17-1 record and No. 3 ranking, the Eagles come into the spring as back-to-back MIAA champions and look to become just the second program in the league's history to capture three consecutive titles. <br><br>This team, of course, will have an entirely different identity after the graduation of a trio of five-stars in No. 2 recruit McCabe Millon (Virginia), top-ranked defenseman and Baltimore Sun Player of the Year AJ Marsh (Navy), and LSM Mac Christmas (Duke), as well as face-off specialist Zach Hayashi, a starter for Navy. Even with 11 of last year's seniors now playing college lacrosse, the cupboard is far from bare, particularly on the offensive end. <br><br>No. 1 junior [player_tooltip player_id='14510' first='Brendan' last='Millon'] (Virginia) is coming off of a brilliant 47-goal, 33-assist season and looks primed to take on even more responsibilities. With McCabe sidelined for the first half of the season, the younger Millon transformed his game and gained valuable experience as an offensive leader. He'll work in tandem with veteran 4-star lefty [player_tooltip player_id='14858' first='Luke' last='Miller'] (Notre Dame), a dynamic dodger who took his game to another level in 2023. Rangy junior [player_tooltip player_id='20008' first='Camp' last='Lacorazza'] (Brown) is likely to fill the third spot at attack, with sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='20017' first='Hunter' last='Metz'] also expected to find a role due to his ability as a left-handed shooter.<br><br>Returning several key pieces and thriving at NHSLS this summer, the Eagles' midfield unit can be considered among the nation's best. Georgetown signee and Top 25 recruit [player_tooltip player_id='14823' first='Ben' last='Firlie'] is the unquestioned leader of the group and an elite outside shooter able to stretch opposing defenses. The offense will have quite a few lefties so they'll have to be strategic about how many will be on the field at once, though 5-star junior and savvy all-around threat [player_tooltip player_id='14525' first='Bogue' last='Hahn'] (Syracuse) is a lock to run with Firlie. There could be some mixing and matching with two more lefties: Fairfield recruit [player_tooltip player_id='15119' first='Andrew' last='Kasten'] ran with the first line last year and will be asked to do more as a two-way contributor, while 4-star junior transfer [player_tooltip player_id='20006' first='Eli' last='Schaller'] (Maryland) comes in from Pennsylvania's Hill School and is an athletic weapon with built-in club chemistry with Hahn. The Eagles will not only have one of the area's better shortsticks in senior [player_tooltip player_id='20019' first='Chase' last='Green'], but a formidable second line led by fellow Navy recruit [player_tooltip player_id='20015' first='James' last='Tolker']. <br><br>McDonogh will have to deal with a lot of turnover at the face-off X and on defense, but that's not to say that there isn't plenty of experience and talent returning. Future Terp and No. 9 junior [player_tooltip player_id='14549' first='Aidan' last='Seibel'] took over the starting goalie job midway through last season and never looked back, proving to be unflappable beyond his years and lights out as a ball-stopper. He'll backstop a close defense that will see talented senior lefty [player_tooltip player_id='14863' first='Max' last='Allen'] (Georgetown) step up to cover No. 1 attackmen alongside multi-year starter [player_tooltip player_id='14944' first='Paul' last='McLucas'], yet another Navy recruit, while junior Loyola verbal [player_tooltip player_id='20021' first='Hayden' last='Holmes'] is expected to round out the unit and classmate [player_tooltip player_id='20159' first='Michael' last='Tan'] (Ohio State) will take on top LSM duties. The biggest wild card is at the face-off position, where Hayashi took on a significant workload and was the heart and soul of the team. Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='20157' first='Ciaran' last='Sweeney'] looks to be next in line, and with his athletic 6'2 frame, he has a reputation for being strong with the ball, too.
