Bonner has had an exceptional year for Darien. He is on the wings for faceoffs, where he actually is heavily relied on as part of the plan to win draws. Darien hasn’t had a lot of success winning draws cleanly with its face-off specialists this year, but Bonner has been a major part in masking that disadvantage. He’s aggressive on-ball, and he’s great in a ground ball scrum. He knocks the ball to space, and gets it upfield in a hurry. Off the ball, his stick is always active. He’ll steal a possession or two with a deflected pass or a knockdown in each game. If Darien needs the ball, Bonner is the guy to get it for them.

The Tufts commit also stood out, drawing the difficult assignment of guarding Gary Merrill Gary Merrill 6'1" | 195 lbs | M | Right Hand St. Anthony's | 2025 #4 Nation NY (UNC) for the day. Merrill took a few runs at Bonner but really only got the better of him for a shot twice, and just one of those was a goal. The rest of the day, Bonner was disruptive and, like McNamara, stayed on his matchup’s gloves. Both McNamara and Bonner had multiple caused turnovers and ground balls on the day (and in key moments) to give Darien opportunities on the offensive end.

The Darien defense had to handle a possession disadvantage most of the night, but their poles looked ready for the challenge. The game plan looked to slide aggressively, be active for free doubles, and try to cause some chaos. Bonner was a major part of that. On wings for faceoffs, he was quick in to try and cause chaos on exits for Diaz-Matos. He turned some clean exits into ground ball battles. Off the ground, he was as good as any pole in the game, in the mix for any ball that hit the turf. When good things were happening for the Darien defense, Bonner was usually close by.
