Mackey is among several reasons why buying the proverbial stock in a fast-rising Good Counsel program might be smart. The Yale commit has combined for 115 points during his first two seasons on varsity and turned a lot of heads this summer, finishing strong at the tail-end of the summer circuit. He was back at it at Troy Park and impressed with his equal propensity for scoring and feeding, as Mackey looked to be one of the best passers at the event. What impresses me about Mackey is that he lets the game come to him and doesn’t seem to force anything or pile up turnovers. Smooth and confident in his abilities, his head up is always up looking for cutters, and he’s good for the occasional spot feed or two. He showed off his two-handedness and finished appropriately, placing his shots well throughout the day. I also love his effort in the riding game, where he was a constant factor.
