About Tyler
Expert Analysis
Carey Smith | Prep Lacrosse Scout
At 6-feet tall, 220-pounds and with an attacking style, Sims is a beast at the defensive end. Sims owns fundamentally sound techniques and positioning skills. Thus, he has a knack for patiently pursuing ball carriers for long stretches and then causing a turnover with a heavy stick check or by taking the body. Around the crease Sims does an excellent job of disrupting passing lanes with his stick. Plus, his physical slides and double teams are always on time. His ground ball skills are on point too. The combination of Sims’ active stick and nose for the ball allows him to scoop up contested GBs. But even when his stick is tied up, Sims will find a way to hockey or kick the ball into open space where he can then secure possession. Finally, Sims is a plus player in the clearing game too.
